Hey, hey, hey...

One of the best shows on American TV right now has a fair amount of nudity and swearing and I'll not have any belittling done. :p

Not to mention that other US show on every monday that you like with people with their naked chests and tight fitting clothing grabbing and grinding against each other.

That show with nudity and swearing in it, it sucks.

What show is it?

By the way, wrestling is proof that homo-eroticism is less offensive to Americans than female nipples.

You suck

Game of Thrones on HBO

Actual proof of superiority of the US system. You can choose to have crappy HBO movies or not, but the channels you will for sure get you can be sure are at least some what kid appropriate, at times anyway.

If someone wants to be politically correct go ahead and let them if they want to be incorrect go ahead and let them. I try to be politically correct sometimes but sometimes i just cant do it, its what makes us human.

I am sure people know what political correctness. Is it bad for society, or good?

Very bad. It promotes the idea that a person's "right not to be offended" is more important than free speech. I can't support that.

Should it be lessened? Increased?

Lessened-by far. People need to grow a back bone, and learn not to care about what others think of them. Even if I hate something someone else is saying, I support their right to say it.

Also, it'd be awesome if you could give examples of political correctness to support your beliefs.

Thank you.

Irl, I try to avoid people for the most part because I usually offend them the minute I open my mouth. Unlike most, I don't bother to avoid the forbidden topics of religion and politics around friends and family. That being said, even other topics like poking fun of certain people seem to be off limits.
I once made fun of fat people and was compared to Dorian Grey. :lamo

People make fun of other people all the time. It happens. It's human nature to "pick each other apart." In fact, it's what we do best.

I absolutely would too...

Doesn't make it any less a form of political correctness

I don't think it's poltical correctness as it is simply censorship (which is not necessarily a bad thing). There are plenty of things that can be shown on TV that are not politically correct.

I think the FCC should lose the vast majority of its power, and the only thing it should do is police against piracy. As for saying words. I think we should be able to say the f word on network TV AND not be criminally prosecuted just for saying something. No reason we shouldn't enjoy the FULL of our freedom instead of part of it. Ceding freedom is stupid anyway.

That's all what cable is for. I don't particularly think it's a bad thing to keep nudity and bad language off network and off the radio (think of the CHILDREN). Besides, there's so much now that's permissible than there used to be.

I always used to wonder why Ricky and Lucy slept in separate beds. I was told years after I first started watching the show that they couldn't show a man and woman in the same bed on television. Apparently, there was also controversy about showing Lucy pregnant. Now days it seems weird that those would be issues, ya know?

I think I heard that they couldn't even say the word "pregnant". It's funny though to watch 'em smoke like chimneys. Having main characters who smoke is definitely not PC now. Funny how things change, isn't it?

It's all pretty strange. I wonder what my kids' kids will think of TV from this era. "Oh god, it's not in 3D. What the hell IS that?"

And yet Stan and Ollie were often seen sharing a bed. They were nuts back then, weren't they?

I don't really care. I'm going to say what I want to say anyway and I think other people should do the same thing and all this "but I'm tired of people telling me what to say" is just whining from people who let pressure get to them.

In the end, the language I use is situational. I choose my words based on my audience, how I feel about them, what I want to communicate to them and whether or not I care if they accept what I say.

For example, if I'm around my friends, I'll say "retard" as an insult. If I'm around someone whose business I care about, then I won't use it. Political correctness is really not something I ever think about or have a problem with because I've always felt like I'm free to say whatever.

Let’s stay on topic plz.

Yes we should stay on topic!

So, I am pretty sure "damned vaginas" prefer to be called "hellbound birth canals" nowadays... just sayin. ;)

One of my favorite parts about PC ideals is the fact that in time the preferred names for certain things/groups etc will no longer be preferred because they will eventually take on all the sorts of baggage any label takes on over time and then we will have to have new ones yet again... silly.

At the end of the day, does any of us care what anybody else thinks of us?

Politcal correctness is used to not offend anybody about anything at any time.

I think people need to be offended once in a while.

Political Correctness is watered-down Marxist mind-control. Screw it. I hate it. I deliberately undermine it as best I can, in the world it has made all around us.
