If I felt that the person was a serious threat to the safety of other drivers I might (I've called 1-800-GRAB-DUI on a couple people before). But for the most part, no. I drive upwards of 150 miles a day. Do you have any idea how many traffic violations I see on an average day?

If I see somebody driving erractically, threatening the safety of other drivers then I'll call 911 and report them. I've also reported a few people for hit-and-run accidents as well. I don't call in speeders, typically...if you find somebody going the speed limit on a highway in Dallas outside of rush-hour I'll buy you a steak dinner. We have a lot of red-light cameras here, so most people who run those will get a tickey without my help.

I said YES in some cases...and that would be anytime I believed the violation could threaten someone elses life or well being.

But isn't there a reason parking is illegal? For example, parking on corner can impair vision and create a danger for the car coming out of the intersection as well as those on the main road. And if a car is parked illegally, it may impede scooter/bicycle lanes, creating a danger for them forcing them into a car lane to stay out of the "door zone". That certainly can and does put people in danger every day...

If I thought it posed a safety hazard, absolutely. Minor violations, I probably wouldn't bother and the police wouldn't respond anyhow, although if I was standing there talking to a cop, I might bring it up if I thought about it at the time.

If they don't have both hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2 o'clock, I'm making a call.

I would call if I noticed someone paying more attention to where my hands are rather than the road.

What are people with manual transmissions supposed to do?
