PP videos/Islam

Like there isn't awful stuff in the New Testament.

Yup, the bible specifically says that gays should be killed along with people who hit their fathers, those who dont listen to priests and who fornicate, etc.

And most of all: kill nonbelievers too!

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

Of course. It's fully of historical fact, poetry, songs, prophecies and figurative language.

So...you only want to follow the parts you like...

Relevant to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_terrorism
Christian militia groups destroyed almost all mosques in the Central African Republic unrest.[21][22] In 2014, Amnesty International reported several massacres committed by the Anti-balaka against Muslim civilians, forcing thousands of Muslims to flee the country.[23][24][25] Other sources report incidents of Muslims being cannibalized.[26][27]

No, I follow the parts pertaining to me --- a non-Jew. A Gentile. A Christian.

So, you only follow part of the book because you decide what applies to you. How convenient.

*I* didn't decide what pertained to me. LOL! I'm not a Jew - I'm sorry!

This is an off-shoot of the other thread that got out of hand:

Quran (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement"

[/FONT]Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 992: - "Fight everyone in the way of Allah and kill those who disbelieve in Allah."[/I][/I][/I][/I][/I][/I][/I][/I]

Much of those verses is based on historical accounts, they are not commandments so context is important.

This is shown in verse [9:12-14]
[9:12] If they violate their oaths after pledging to keep their covenants, and attack your religion, you may fight the leaders of paganism—you are no longer bound by your covenant with them—that they may refrain.

[9:13] Would you not fight people who violated their treaties, tried to banish the messenger, and they are the ones who started the war in the first place? Are you afraid of them? GOD is the One you are supposed to fear, if you are believers.

[9:14] You shall fight them, for GOD will punish them at your hands, humiliate them, grant you victory over them, and cool the chests of the believers.

Note that it says you should fight (not kill) the non-believers ONLY if: they violate treaties OR attack your religion.

So...only parts of the bible are applicable to you. You are christian, I can understand you not following the talmud, but, you believe the bible is the inerrant word of your supreme being, and yet you dismiss parts of it? How heretical of you.

Do you own any slaves? Because there are some good lessons on how to treat your slaves...

So let's get back to the false equivalency that came up in the other thread.

If the creators of the PP videos are at fault for Robert Dear shooting people in Colorado Springs, show me where in the video the Center for Medical Progress commands or even suggests that people should kill abortionists or attack abortion clinics in any way.

Anyone?

And the fact of the matter remains that no where in the New Testament is it said that any of those things warrants death.

There's a reason why Christian bibles include the OT you know, its because Jesus said to follow their teachings too...

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:17-18)"

I'm sorry. I don't visit that site. Perhaps you can just tell me what they're all about.

I don't condone violence of any kind against people I disagree with. Sorry to burst your bubble.

So, you won't go to a site to read some facts, because you would prefer to keep yourself willfully ignorant? That is no way to become a learned person. I read from all kinds of sites, from all over the spectrum. Maybe you should just buck up and read it, unless you are afraid of a bit of truth and logic entering your brain.

There you go....god commands them, and they turn their backs on him and pick and choose what to believe. What hypocrites and heretics.

Which he made pretty explicitly clear did not include things like stoning, divorce, or numerous other things that the Old Testament Law either allowed or commanded.

Can you quote chapter and verse that he said not to include those things?

Please stop putting words in my mouth. I don't dismiss any of it. It's historical fact and full of great praise and worship and moral instruction.

The covenant (the OT laws) were between Jehovah God and the Jewish people. Once again -- Josie's not Jewish.

A) That's a pretty terrible misrepresentation of what Christ actually said and meant by those statements.

B) So what? It's not exactly calling for non-believers to be killed and conquered. You just don't like it because it clashes with your own values.

Good one. Once again, I don't condone or support anyone being violent against people they disagree with. Can you tell me why you keep harping on this? I won't suddenly change my mind, ya know.

That's not a list of actual quoted verses -- it's someone interpretation of what's in the Bible. Lame.

So...you are saying, you ignore your god's word in the OT.

How convenient to pick and choose. Other christians follow the OT and the NT, are you better than them? Do you see flaws and errors in the bible?

You are painting yourself into a corner, its hilarious.
