What are your thoughts on John Dewey?

I don't know if I've ever really focused on him. Sounds familiar, but...? He's described as hegelian and I have spent some time with Hegel, primarily because he was at Jena when my 3rd? g-grandfather was curator. My personal feeling is that we are much better today at definition and logic, and that the shroud of evolutionary theory has, and rightfully should, influence our philosophy. So sometimes I'm grasping Hegel and at other times I am totally at odds. To put this another way, I see a lot of rhetoric built on false premise, which lends the impression of psychobabble.

What do you think of him?

I asked since people bring him up a lot when we are talking about philosophy.
