A baseball game is in the bottom of the ninth with the winning run on third with two out and a full count on the batter. The pitcher is known as the best late inning reliever in the baseball world. He throws a pitch the batter gets a hit and the man on third scores-game over. Is the pitcher a failure?

One can say that the pitcher had failed to strike the man out. Not sure if one can really call the pitcher a FAILURE though.

If this was a recurring instance (even though the pitcher is "world class" there can be bouts lasting multiple games or there can be a decline in performance overall for whatever reason) then perhaps one could call the pitcher a failure.

and i suppose the batter isnt a pro?

even the best sometimes fail in the game

Mariano Rivera of the Yankees is considered one of if not the best reliever of all time

his record is astounding...many more successes than failures

but he failed at times....

every human being i know has failed at times....that is kinda what makes us human after all.....the fact we are are not perfect, and never will be

so, the answer is the OP is a resounding NO!
