I'm a theist!

In the first century there was no 'New Testament." However there were over two dozen independent manuscripts floating around different localities which confirmed the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. And that is INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION.
The same can be said about Harry Potter, Star Trek, and My Little Pony today.

I do not worship Rainbow Dash.

what do you expect to see ? god's foodsteps in your backyard ?

Couldn't hurt. Or official record from the time, maybe government records or some archeological evidence that direct confirms the miracles and such. Somethibg more than just the text itself.

The non-supernatural Jesus you want people to believe in couldn't have gathered a dozen quotes from all who knew him.

Really? Bet I can find quite a few quotes by Jim Jones and David Koresh...and lord knows how many quotes by a lot of extremist claiming to be Jesus or other types of semi-supernatural, demigod people - or who claim that they have a direct cell phone connection to god. Pat Robertson comes to mind.

It's evident that a lot of people will believe anything. Don't you agree?

We have neither, we believe that when we die we all go back to living with our mothers.

So what you're saying is that your faith only has hell.

That's right, I've been swayed by the logical arguments that there must be a Creator. But now's the hard part, which Creator should I believe in? And how can I objectively know if the Creator I choose to worship is the right one?

Can anyone help me?

Um you already asserted that there was a creator. You specifically said "creator" not god(s) nor mentioned anything about religious beliefs. At this point you are a deist. And since you mentioned that you were swayed by logical arguments then I must assume that philosophically you are coming from age of enlightenment perspective. In that case none of the gods or religions that are available, could make a logical argument that would sway you. Stick with Deism if you are to dogmatic to listen to any more logical arguments arguing against a creator (hypothetically speaking of course).

I'm happy for you. Here are somethings to consider:

The Creator is one God (Monotheistic). He's transcendent. In other words, He exists outside of space and time.

That God created the universe - ex nihilo - which means, from nothing. You can't create something that you're a part of.

God existed eternally, before time and space - and created time and space.
Just as it was stated in Genesis 1:1, science also supports that concept with the Big Bang theory.
Scientists now agree overwhelmingly that the universe had a beginning.

Then give your life to Harry Potter or your little pony and see how that works out for you at the Judgment.

If people knew their Bibles they wouldn't get led astray by people like Koresh or Jim Jones. That's the trouble with this world - people are Biblically ignorant and spiritually challenged.

The Bible is not proof that the Bible is right. You need independent verification.

Once you have faith you have a somewhat different meaning for "reason" and "logic".

If I had a nickel for every time you make that claim...I could travel the world. Many, many, many generations of people have read the bible...and still have were gullible enough to believe just about every fairy tale humans can invent.

Really? Did the people who believed Koresh was Christ not know that the Christ would be born in Bethlehem, and at a particular time in history (first century)? They should have known.

Apparently too many...they die for his sins, too,

God will retire from public life long before the Judgment. He's going to give me his job as soon as I get to heaven.

(So you'd better shape up...)

As for why Christianity, the following are resources that can explain a whole lot better:

Reasonable Faith is the website of William Lane Craig (considered one of the top Christian apologists). They have a Q&A....which you might be interested in.

First is welcome to a life of enlightenment as that simple knowledge is the first step.

There is a doctrine which Christians preach but they never follow it and it is the right way, and it goes like this:

You (we each) must have a personal relationship with God, and that means "personal" as in just you and God and no one else.

It is a mistake to follow any other person or any Church or any doctrine as you need to find out your own faith and your own Creator and your own personal relationship with God is the right one - so long as you stay true to your self and to your own conscience.

I study all religions and judge what is accurate and true in each and all doctrines, and reject all that I find to be false or wrong.

The searching (not worship) is really the true religion, because so far no one knows all the details about the Creator.

Seek the truth and you will find it, but through it all we each stand alone.

You won't find God on a slide rule or in a test tube.

That is true. Its how you know it ain't real. No more than any other form of magic.

go with the one who brings you peace of mind and fulfills your spiritual needs.

if you feel you need to objectively prove it's the correct Creator, you're doing the whole spirituality thing wrong.
