All men die, I'm not sure anyone has said anything else. What's the point?

That's not what the man on the street with the bible and megaphone told me....

What, or who, the **** are you even talking about!?!?!? This thread makes no sense! I'm confused, and my eyebrow itches!

Don't bother scratching that eyebrow dude. We're gonna die anyway so what's the point

I live my life like i'm going to die at 50.

....I'm 11 years past due for dying.... dammit.

Let me guess. If you know you were going to live so long, you would have taken better care of yourself.

I did take very good care of myself ( ignoring a couple of vices) for about 59 years.... only in the last couple of years have I stopped working out and running so religiously.

my overall health has actually improved, oddly enough.

no matter... I should have been dead ( 3 or 4 times) long ago... this is all bonus time.

My understanding is that people pretend that they will live forever because they are terrified of death and afraid of reality.

The more people hustle and bustle then the less they have to think or to deal with the realities of life.

I remember reading some book by the Mahatma Gandhi and he made the Ashrams and when the western people came to join then he had to teach them how to settle down and relax and as he said - teach them how to do nothing. Of course everyone did work too but it was such a slow pace that westerners had a problem trying to adjust and slow down.

You say that we all go to the same place - and yet people are confused about death and terrified of any afterlife, and even death itself is not as frightening as going to a Heaven or a Hell.

We must never underestimate the power of emotional fear in the lives of humanity.

The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.

The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.

I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also [is] vanity. ... I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:
I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all [kind of] fruits:
I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:
I got [me] servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, [as] musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.
Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all [was] vanity and vexation of spirit, and [there was] no profit under the sun.

And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what [can] the man [do] that cometh after the king? [even] that which hath been already done. ...and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all. Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also [is] vanity. ...

Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:

Lamentations (excerpted)

50's too early. I'm figured 67 and drop dead in my tracks one random day with not the slightest bit of warning.
Yeah, that'd be my preference.

What's wrong with ambition?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with ambition, provided it doesn't roll over and hurt anyone else in the process.

It's ambition that pushed man to explore the 4 corners of the earth; to build and fly airplanes; every step forward for humankind has been propelled by ambition of one sort or another. Heck, it's was got out of the caves and over the next ridge, to see what's there.

that's one way to look at it... but then again, I get more bonus time than you do.

I want to be shot to death at age 104 by a jealous husband.

I want my last words to be 'That was fantastic'.

I want my last words to be "why not?"

For whatever reason, depending on where my eyes are looking at on this thing...it looks like it's either spouting or eating a line of LOL's.

Kinda freaky, really.

Well, sometimes, ambition HAS to involve removing those in front of you. It's what compels us to pass another person on the freeway. Only, sometimes, that passing involves a bit more...aggression...than a simple finger and fly by.

Learning to drive on the track at or near the limit has totally taken away any enjoyment of passing people who weren't racing, and trying to corner hard on corners that aren't laid out for it on pavement that's way too rough or broken. If it's a recurring challenge for you, I'd say take it to the track.

Your miss interpretation is noted.
