Religion - Coping Mechanism

Sources please.

I know it's been asked before and you pretty much threw a temper tantrum, but I figure I'd ask again. It isn't our job to fact check everything you make up. If you want to prove something, show us evidence of it. If Cornell just proved paranormal activity exists then you can post a few links and prove it to all of us.

I'm assuming your reluctance to do so is because there isn't any and you're afraid to look.

On the other hand, while you are checking the facts, you won't get up to any mischief. Consider this. If you require some more facts to occupy you and save your soul i am willing to help. So just let me know.

Religious beliefs seem to be a source for much regret. I have read numerous cases where the people don't want to have anything to do with their loved ones anymore over some petty religious philosophical crap. Crying as they hold their loved ones dead corpse crying because it's too late.

Yes, it's sad - it is too late then.

For her entire life my Mum remained faithful to her commitment to God. For her entire life we loved her unconditionally and respected her right to choose and follow her own path.

It was never a big issue, she was equally as tolerant, supportive and understanding in return. We all had similar everyday values that we lived by so we never had an issue respecting religious differences.

I'm not sure how to define "everyday values," but what seems clear is that your mother successfully modeled tolerance and compassion.

I am not the one interested in these research results, so do your own research.

But you are familiar with them while others are not. You shouldn't assume that everyone reading this thread hopes to debunk your beliefs and experiences; they may just, like me, be very curious and would find good links helpful.

She did, thank you nota.

I mean social and personal values like courtesy, respect, do unto others, forgiveness, honesty, compassion, appreciation etc just to name a few. I imagine that's how the majority of us try to live our lives and they are everyday values for us all.

They should be anyway, sigh, and I wish more folks understand that "Do as I say, not as I do" doesn't work. Thank you for clarifying.

I'm glad that it worked out. For me some of my family is really upset and not interested in ever seeing me again. They are forgiven the moment they ask for it, but I doubtthey ever will.

So you have no evidence and you don't want to discuss it in a debating forum? You just want to make vague and non-committal assertions that you have some transcendental knowledge in a Philosophy Forum section that, co-incidentally, probably contains the largest population of rationalists and Atheist/Agnostics in the forum. I have to ask, why are you not discussing this in the Religious Forum? That question implies that you should at least clarify what your 'Spiritualism' is.

Are you actually saying that you don't know what Spiritualism is?

There is no reluctance whatsoever. I cannot post links from this tablet. Just Google
"13 University-Sanctioned Paranormal Research Projects.". It lists all past and present projects and their results.

Thank you. I shouldn't jump to conclusions. As I just told someone else, I cannot post links from this tablet, but one good site is "13 University sanctioned paranormal research projects".

It's tough to take those claims seriously, when the studies of Uri Geller are listed among them. I will note not one of them of that list is in a published, peer reviewed scientific journal...

It is not "my" Spiritualism. Spiritualism is the belief in Spirit, communication with Spirit, and belief in a world of Spirit.

So there is no religion or church that you ascribe to, it is just a metaphysical belief.

I wouldn't know about that.

Actually, Spiritualism is a recognized religion with churches all over this country and the world. I personally do not belong to a church, but do belong to forums and boards.

I know. Thanks for the additional information.

When you react so negatively to having your beliefs questioned, as you commonly do in your posts, it might help for you to imagine what response you would get to ANY of your posts in the Religious Forum. It might also help to show a modicum of respect for those that are not inside the religious exclusion zone who can understand why you believe what you do and question it in their own back yard without condemning you as a heretic.

Geez, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
