It's a sad state of affairs when people start hating for NOT believing in something.

If heaven is full of these people....hell looks to be a good alternative.

Why bitch about something you don't believe in? Seriously a waste of time.

FWIW, Christians don't care.

The argument is that in this case, because it directly impacts their lives. Go live in Iran for example and see how long it takes you to bitch about something you don't even believe in.

How does anyone know if they are Atheist if they don't broadcast it?

Same way any one knows if some one is a christian. In fact, christians tend to broadcast it, try and drag others into it, and generally are obnoxious about the whole thing/ And why should christians be able to broadcast, but there is apparently something wrong with an atheist doing so?

And you neatly tried to sidestep my comment. Chrstiantity directly impacts my life, pretty much every day. Does that not give me a valid reason to complain? Why do you think people should not comment on something that can and does impact them?

Tell me how your life is somehow disturbed by Christians ...everyday?

Where did I say "disturbed"? Please do not change what I say.

Well I'm guessing that it affected your life in a good way, you wouldn't be bitching.

So how does it negatively affect your life?

And? Why wouldn't it?

Christians are the majority in this country, and in the regions to which the article refers. Atheists are a tiny minority, and many of them (though, admittedly, not all) have something of a reputation for being obnoxious, smug, condescending, and confrontational about their beliefs or lack thereof.

If they don't want to run into problems in their personal lives, they really shouldn't go out of their way to "make waves" and offend local sensibilities.

I'm Catholic, and I have spent most of my life living either in, or on the outskirts, of the heart of the Bible Belt. I can tell you from personal experience that many of the more "hard-line" Baptists down here don't really care for us either.

It simply happens to be the case that it's usually not an issue, as I do not go out of my way to make it an issue. Religion hardly comes up at all in my day-to-day life.

I'm non-religious by choice, as is my husband. I've never had any experience in my adult life where Christianity has impacted me, good or bad. I'm not sure how it can directly impact any other adults, daily or otherwise. How is that?

Since christianity does not effect my life, how could it ever effect anyone else's...?

Did you read the link???

Some people have been fired from jobs, lost spouses and children, and generally been treated as outcasts.

Just because it doesn't happen to you, up in New England, doesn't mean crazy religious crap doesn't happen in the BIBLE BELT.

Come on now...please try to keep up here.

Yes I read the link. And?

How does anyone know if they are Atheist if they don't broadcast it?

Likely (as with most atheists) they did not broadcast anything, but were presented with a situation in which they were expected to be Christian...and simply made it clear they were not. It's not as if we walk around "Spreading the Word", though we may correct the pronunciation.

Some people have been fired from jobs,

Allegedly, according to the unverifiable hearsay of a bunch of anonymous pissants in an unsourced internet article.

lost spouses and children,

If someone does not wish to remain married to an atheist, would that not ultimately be their choice to make?

Aren't you secularists all about "freedom of choice?"

and generally been treated as outcasts.

I strongly suspect that this is self-imposed in many cases.

Based on the OP - that's obviously a huge and gigantic LIE.

Can any of you people read?????

I live in another country known as Texas and we don't do things like everyone else.

BTW: the OP is FOS.

You folks in other state are just plain weird and rude.

I can't recall a single
time that's ever happened to me plus, we have non believers over for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and every other holiday where we all hold hands while my Wife say the blessing. Never had anyone feel say a word.

Maybe that's why our state would be just fine as it's own country.

IF I understand the unique and somewhat gibberish infused comment you just produced... I take it your personal life should be considered in the inter relation of religion.

Here we see why many dismiss it as futile...every single Christian decides what the faith is, and so no one can be Christian to anyone else.

You guys are killing yourselves through stupidity.
