Is Violence an Answer?

I'll have to disagree with the age range, I've seen high school kids get a whipping that helped straighten them out. But, as you said, it needs to be used under the proper circumstances and it definitely needs to not be an emotional reaction, but rather a corrective one.

A whipping by another HS student is understandably a measure that occurs but young adults respond better to fear than actual physical contact. You'd have to use some pretty serious punishment to have much of an effect, especially with their attitudes. I mean these idiots jump off roofs and crack their walnuts just for Youtube attention. I'd try alternative punishments that embarrass them because being "cool" is one of the most important things for teenagers anyway. Make them wear a silly hat all day that says "I'm a retard".

No, I meant I've seen a HS student get paddled and help straighten them out. It was a basketball coach paddling one of his players for some trouble he was getting in during school.

By the way, I laughed at "idiots...crack their walnuts just for Youtube attention". It's amazing the stupid things kids do.

Maybe its just me but again, why don't you just throw him out of your classes and be done with it. I don't know, but I do know I myself have no patience for that sort of horsecrap.

Because then he wins. He doesn't have to show up. Who cares? I show weakness that I can't handle his bullcrap. Instead I show him exactly how small (figuratively) he is and that with the stroke of a pen and 0 sweat off my brow make it so that he will spend his after school and weekends on campus cleaning toilets and bleachers for the rest of the year and if he thinks that that isn't a big deal...well that is fine...but daddy won't get his report card and he won't pass his grade until he pays in full every hour of detention he owes me.
