The Big Bang is no more rational than the existence of God. A Godless theory is just as illusory as a religious belief. Both require faith. The world's leading scientist thought the earth was flat, and then that the universe orbited the earth--knowing more than they did does not make you right, just equally arrogant IMHO.
The big bang theory has measurement and is currently the best theory to describe the observables. What you have mentioned here is the malleability of scientific theory, which is different than religious tenet. We have theories which describe the observables, those theories can change or be dismissed if future measurement is incompatible with the current construct. That's how science works. Not on imagined deities, but on measurement and observation.
