What does Intelligence look like?

I have a 138 IQ. But my Psychologist at the time said it was probably even higher, but because of my learning disability makes my memorization and audio processing skills only be in the average range.

It's kind of a shame that intelligence gets vilified and outcast so much, isn't it? Imagine how much more people could do with their brain power if they were celebrated for it, rather than shunned.

Exactly.

It's practically taboo. People shouldn't be ashamed of their high intelligence, or showing it.

The most intelligent person I know is a janitor.

For a while as a child I went to a school that had an entrance exam & you had to achieve an IQ score over 152 to gain entry (that was the base rate, obviously it was higher some years depending on the levels of entrants), & this guy was in my class & smokingly intelligent. I mean he was in a class full of people IQ 152 & up & made everyone of them feel stupid by comparison (not in a nasty way he was just so far ahead).

This guy, as a ten year old studied university level math & physics for fun. He was just off the charts & still is, but janitor was were he ended up.

IQ doesnt predict the person or their life, it just records their ability in IQ tests.

See, the sad thing about a guy like you is in 50 years you're gonna staht doin some thinkin on your own and you're gonna come up with the fact that there are two certaintees in life. One, don't do that. And Two, you dropped a hundred and fifty grand on a ****in education you coulda got for a dollah fifty in late chahges at the public library

I want to know what you think. When you think of "intelligence" and "intelligent people," ...

You ruined the question with the "intelligent people" part.

We don't know what intelligence is. Whatever it is, we know it must be independent of human beings, or any other products of biological or physical evolution.

It's very likely intelligence is just a quality of nature, that manifests itself in all aspects of reality, from subatomic particle physical rules and interactions to high level behavior of evolved biological beings.

The interesting thing is that humans are capable of realizing some part of universal intelligence... or what I like to call Cosmological Reality.

It would be interesting to know what we'll discover in another 50,000 years of being alive.

I strongly doubt that given that I dont expect to be alive in another 50 years & never paid a dime on education in my life.

ya'like apples?

IME, the more raw brain power someone has, the more likely they are to be misfits/social outcasts.

Many never "do" anything with their intellects.

They just live very examined lives.

I think that is somewhat true in many cases, but I suspect it is because some people who are heavy with intellectual capacity seem to come up a little short in other areas of personality expression (emotional or pragmatic sense). I don't think that it's especially necessary to do anything special with intellect, unless you feel the need to use it for gratification or gain at some level. My mother is an example of a person with high intellect, who graduated from high school, got married, and had children, then spent her life as a housewife and mother. She could have accomplished virtually anything she desired, but what she wanted was a simple life with the man she loved, and the children she had. She is (now in her 70's) an absolute pleasure as company for me when we visit, because her lack of formal education and work experience has not dampened her curiosity and her ability to think and be an interesting person. It really just seems to depend on what areas of life you want to focus on.

Oh, I wasn't bashing.

Just an observation.

I'm one of those "road less.traveled.by" folks myself.

The last time my IQ was measured it was 150. I'm just lacking horribly in social skills and common sense. I learned to speak Spanish in a year, ASL in 9 months, and learned the Hebrew alphabet/sounds and shape of each letter in an hour, but the flipside is that when I worked in a gas station and they gave me a little metal tool I had never seen before and told me to clean the microwave, I put it in the microwave and turned the thing on! Alot of people ask me if I have lived in a box my whole life :). Intelligence can be an autistic xhild with an affinity towards numbers or someone in a high ranking position like CEO of a national corporation. Most of the people Ive known as intellects in school have.grown up to do drugs or rent apartments our together and play Magic all day, while the steroetypical Jocks with "no brains" have.gone on to conquer the.corporate world.
