Current Mood: | Facism This is the definition of facism according to Wiki:
Fascism is a totalitarian nationalist political ideology and mass movement that is concerned with notions of cultural decline or decadence, and which seeks to achieve a millenarian national rebirth by exalting the nation or race, as well as promoting cults of unity, strength and purity.
Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: nationalism, militarism, totalitarianism, dictatorship, populism, collectivism, statism, social interventionism, and economic planning. In addition, fascism opposes classical liberalism and communism. Fascism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Now, I ask you all, without mentioning any names, does that sound like anyone around here? Warning: Just be sure that you don't call them on it. It will cost you points.
Further, I am a conservative. I am pro-life, pro-gun, anti-government cheese, and stand pretty much in line with every conservative issue, with very little exception. To be clear, I am not a liberal. The next person who calls me a liberal will be intrepreted as someone who's intent is clearly to bait or flame me. And I will have them reported as such.
Thank you,
Captain America

So extreme that it has few connections to classical conservatism. Liberals and conservatives in reality aren't that far apart. They just don't agree on some points.

Sometimes, even calling a spade a spade will get one into trouble.
And, until I "self-label" myself as a liberal, I will take the same offense, if someone calls me one.
This is one case where "If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck" we shall call it a swan.
I can live with that.
Off-topic side note: We need more Tashah pictures on the forum. You got anything in beach attire? (hint-hint)

They just don't agree on some points. | Being someone who was raised as a child during the cold war, we were taught a few things about communism. Whether it was true or not is another talk show but let me tell you some of the things we were taught.
1. In Russia, you cannot choose your carreer. The government will choose it for you.
*When I served in the Navy, I tested, and then was told what my rate would be. It was called "The need of the Navy." Sound familiar?
2. In Russia, the use of propaganda was a tool used to form the minds and opinions of it's citizens.
** FOXNews. 527's. Need I say more?
3. In Russia, it was all about the people serving the government and not the government serving the people.
*** "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" Sound familiar?
4. Communists want control of the world.
************ who's armie's are half way around the globe enforcing our will upon soverign nations as we speak?
************************************************** *****
And as we were being taught about Russian propaganda it suddenly dawned on me. What I was reading, was propaganda, in and of itself. the only difference, it was American propaganda.
All I am saying is, don't let facist's (see definition above), draped in conservative clothing, fool you. It gives conservatism a bad name.
And just because I don't agree with facist ideology, don't confuse me with a liberal.

You go up according to your achievements and either start at the very bottom or you decide to skip a few steps by going officer. In communism the government tells EVERYONE what to do regardless of what field of work they are in. I've never been told by the U.S. government what to work in, what to read, study or even think about. Sure I've been told by SOME members but the U.S. government as a whole? Not never. Quote:

| The difference is that in countries that exercise communism, you don't have the option of changing the channel if you don't like the propaganda being brought by some news agencies. I watch BBC and Al Jazeera when I get tired of ABC or FOX. I wouldn't have the same option in Kim Jong Il's regime or Fidel Castro's Cuba. Quote:

| That is about VOLUNTARY service to your country. Not Cuban military youth camps or Russian kids wearing Lenin hats and distributing pro-communism pamphlets because they are being told to do it. JFK was talking about young men joining the military or volunteering for their communities. Not people being forced to support the government regardless of what they think of it. Quote:

| I disagree strongly with the war in Iraq but I don't think we want to control the world or even close. We're more like that lady in Will and Grace who's always telling Grace what to do but means it in a nice way even if she is a total bitch. Quote:
