Current Mood: | A Hurricane For Houston This Week? I freaking hope so. Before you begin to think I am crazy, let me explain:
1) We are stuck in triple digit temperatures. It was 101 yesterday, and it is predicted to be 104 today.
2) With the heat is humidity like we haven't had in years.
3) My last electric bill was over 300 bucks, and my next one might hit 400.
4) Houston is in the middle of a bad drought.
So what would a hurricane do for Houston? For starters, it would get a little windy, and it would rain one hell of a lot, causing massive flooding. But after it is over, the high temperatures will have been broken for the rest of the year. This happened during Hurricane Alicia, back in the 80's. We got the eye of that storm, and it did do a lot of damage. However, before the storm, temperatures were in the 100's, and after the storm, the temperature stayed in the low 90's for the rest of the year.
Today the National Weather Service announced that there is a tropical disturbance in the Northern Gulf of Mexico, and one model shows that it will become a hurricane and hit Houston. Well, to that disturbance, let me say this:
Get off your fat butt, get your hurricane on, and come on over. The door is open, and we will roll out the red carpet for you and give you the key to the city. LOL.

Should be right over us about 1PM on Tuesday. I get a paid day off too, and no more 100 degree temperatures. |

A Hurricane For Houston This Week?
| I hope so. Austin needs the rain. We're having a drought. And we've had like a hundred straight days of over 100 degree temperatures.
It's some kind of record, I think.
But then again, when is it ever less than 100 degrees in the summer in Texas? Except when it rains.

One of the models shows it stalling over San Antonio, causing flooding both there and in Austin. All models show it going through Houston fairly fast, with rainfall accumulations of only about 6 inches. |
