Marriage

I had not heard of this new marriage trend before now. Is it just me... is this self-absorbed narcissism?

Why I Married Myself

Self-marriage? A "movement?" :doh

Narcissism at it's most extreme. And not surprising in this era of self-delusional, gender confusional, every little insane idea has to be touted as a "Movement" society we live in today.

In Canada, a service called Marry Yourself Vancouver launched this past summer, offering consulting services and wedding photography. In Japan, a travel agency called Cerca Travel offers a two-day self-wedding package in Kyoto: You can choose a wedding gown, bouquet, and hairstyle, and pose for formal wedding portraits. On the website I Married Me, you can buy a DIY marriage kit: For $50, you get a sterling silver ring, ceremony instructions, vows, and 24 "affirmation cards" to remind you of your vows over time. For $230, you can get the kit with a 14-karat gold ring.

well at least someone is getting something out of the ridiculous

invitations, flowers, rings......god help us

Somewhere an entrepreneur is laughing hysterically...all the way to the bank.

lol, sounds like a good excuse to throw a party and poke fun at traditional marriage. I bet all the attendees had a fun time.

But a giant waste of money.

If I was going to marry myself, I would just get a Ring Pop and call it a day.

Sounds like asking for trouble. imagine the trauma of catching yourself cheating on yourself.

Weddings as a rule are a giant waste of money, but they do make a good theme for a party if one is so inclined.

If this is done tongue-in-cheek as an excuse to have a party then have fun. If they are taking themselves seriously, however, then I find it ridiculous and narcissistic.
