The single most important American?

We won the war, period, against the worlds best military. And if the remark is entirely beyond your overall point then you shouldn't have made your initial point about us getting conquered in short order.

Ugh. YOUR remark, to which I responded because you avoided the actual points I made, not my remark/points.

And no "We won the war, period" is not analysis. You seem far more interested in attacking me than in actually debating the factual points I made.

Tell me why the British insistence on line formations and bright red coats against an essentially insurgent rebel army in various uniform was not self-defeating. Tell my why their strategies at major battles was not largely self-defeating. Tell me why French assistance didn't matter.

Or, prove me right by merely saying things like "[I'm right because I said I was right, period. Booyah MERKA!]"

this may seem really strange....

most people would go with lincoln or washington or some other early american history person

to me, the single most important person in the development of america was henry ford

he transformed america from the rustic farmland she once was, to the booming industrialized nation she would become

just one man's opinion

Interesting. I thought of him as well.

Who do you believe is the single most important American of all time and why? And bonus question: what do you think is the single most important event in American history?

There IS no "single most important American." That's because the most important American would vary from person to person, legitimately.

There IS no "single most important event" in American history. That's because there would be unique historical significance to different events, and they'd all be equally important or equally unimportant. It also would depend on the decider's point of view: I suspect Native Americans would have a different opinion of the events than European Americans.

There can be a list of events that have impacted the formation of America, though, in different ways. There can be a long list of Americans who contributed to the startup of America...that would include Native Americans, too.

We're not in competition to be the biggest and best, and neither are the important historical events that happen in the world.

The American...made up of many ethnicities, dreams, believes, wants.
Independence day...for what it stands.
