I was incredulous that anybody would blame the event organizers. The blame falls squarely on the parents who caused the problem.

Then I realize the parents who caused the problems are probably the ones who blamed the organizers.

Hmmm,

Kind of reminds me of just about every "Black Friday" event over the last 15 - 20 years.

How did our society become so greedy? Why do so many people think they are entitled?

Entitled to be free from offense, while entitled to offend others? Entitled to free expression, while demanding other people shut up! Entitled to all sorts of social services, but not willing to pay taxes for them? Entitled to a high paying job, but not willing to study and acquire the skills needed? Entitled, entitled, entitled....and their actions as in this Easter egg hunt fiasco teach their kids to be the same way.

Maybe it's a direct reflection of our bread and circuses society? As real jobs disappear and education has changed from teaching to coddling...it's all replaced by handouts and entertainment to keep the masses content even as the rich get richer and the rest of us muddle along? Just like ancient Rome. Or maybe it's something else?

The real question is, what will it take to change this trend?

After reading the article it seems they were both at fault, but the parents take a majority of the blame.

if you need to go to a corporate event for your kids to hunt easter eggs
you are either terribly poor or terribly lazy

nice intentions, pez
too bad you did not anticipate the public misbehavior
open-to-the-public events require massive coordination/security

Who the hell goes 'yeah - let's take our kid to a hunt with thousands of people around'?

That, to me, screams of a disaster in the making... and sure enough.
