Going to start with seared foie gras with a pear balsamic sauce

Roast duck with cherry sauce
duck fat fried yellow potatoes with a homemade creme fraiche/chive dip
Peas in butter with fried leeks

a peach puff pastry deal for desert that I have not figured out yet, but it will be low in sugar cause I spend 6 years in Germany a very slightly only "sweets" were one of the many revelations of my time in another culture.

And lots of wine, I have cases stashed away, we are going to drink into the inventory tomorrow.

Man do I love me some duck! Cooked rare-medim rare. And goose too.
A properly cooked waterfoul will blow the doors off the finest piece of beef money can buy. But if it tastes like liver and you need to squeeze some orange on it, you did it wrong. I can cook a duck by eyeball, but a nice honker gets a temp probe.
I'm jealous of you right now.

Budaball ham, here, with a home made cheese cake.

I am actually pretty goodf with my cheese cakes. As a result of poverty. I am a cheesecake fiend, and frankly, I could never afford to pay 70 bucks for a GOOD 9 inch cheesecake, which is what they go for up here, so I learned, through trial and error, how to make them as good or better than Junior's. Not to brag. But you'll just have to take my word for it. My ****'s good.

Trouble is that the wife is a fiend for both Turkey and duck, she cares more about this than I do, so branching out into other fowl gets to be a problem. I know I give the flavor of being a misogynist to some people ( I think I am talking facts and good sense BTW) but in real life wife tends to get what she wants a lot of the time.

So do I

We do that for each other.

There's a Papa John's near my place that is offering a $5.50 unlimited pizza Easter special- I'm taking my kid to that one.

Eat in Papa Johns? I never have seen one of those. Fancy.

You must have quite the tolerance for fat, because I gotta tell you, that's one fatty banquet you got planned there.

Me? I'm the kind of a guy who'd tolerate no more than one rich food in a meal, and my tolerance for animal fat is pretty much nonexistent.

Awful. I detest Papa John's pizza.

Papa John's is great.

Of course where I grew up they were the only place that delivered out where I lived, I have consumed many a papa john's pizza.

i'm not really a fan, either. i never understood why that was usually the default pizza at parties when i was younger except maybe for the price. even Pizza Hut is better.

as for Easter dinner, i think that we are having ham and some other home cooked stuff at my GF's Grandpa's house.

We always had it because Dominoes didn't deliver out where we lived, I think they must franchise better then other chains, at least up here in Northwest, because papa Js outnumbers dominoes by a pretty lopsided margin up here.

I agree completely. But $5.50 for an unlimited amount in one sitting is too good of an offer to pass up. ;)

I can't eat chocolate, so i am having braised rabbit in mustard sauce instead. Now, I can really enjoy the Easter bunny.

The pepperoncini were a big win for me, but it was just a good pizza, good proportion, all the parts are at least OK with the meats being better than any of the other fast food pizza chains used. . I just cant deal with their price, and they now skimp on the toppings more than they used to.

It is Easter.

As hard as it is to believe now Easter used to be a big holiday, hell we did not even go to church but it was the third most important holiday of the year at my house growing up 60's-70's, and at a lot of my friends houses it was the second after only Christmas. I am Zen, my wife is currently mad at God so she has not gone to church in years, but I just can't not make a big deal about Easter. Feast meals need a good dose of fat, that is just how I operate, gotta make sure my body knows it just ate a decadent meal ya know...

i liked the jalapeño that they include with the pizza, but the pizza itself is kind of meh. it doesn't taste bad or anything, but pizza is a big calorie investment, so on the rare occasion that i order one, i want it to kick ass. i'd rather have a deep dish, NY style, or one of our regional chains :

as for Easter dinner, we had brown sugar ham, mashed potatoes, and chicken and noodles.

I am right there with you, do it right or not at all, life is too short for consuming crap all day long as people tend to do now. What are they thinking? Are they thinking? Carlin used to do some great bits on this.

Have it at mate I'm not criticizing you or anything; I was just admiring your fat tolerance. Me? I'd probably have a terrible diarrhea the day after.
