West Virginia teen reportedly killed in a game of 'dodging arrows' | Fox News

A 15-year-old boy was killed when he was struck in the head while playing a game of "dodging arrows" at a friend's house, and criminal charges could be possible, authorities said Monday.

OK. When I first read this I just shook my head in amazement that kids could be that stupid but then I got thinking. When I was 15 I did a lot of stupid stuff too. I damned sure didn't do THAT but it did occur to me that I probably had a friend or two who would have. I mean, I can hear the conversation now, "C'mon dude! Don't be a p***y. I promise I won't hit you."

I don't know how this is going to turn out. Maybe it was just a "game" and maybe the other kids acted with animus. It could really go either way but, jeez, if it was an "accident" what a rotten way for kids to have to learn the consequences of their actions.

Yeah I feel the same way, I did some really stupid crap when I was younger, honestly sometimes I don't know how I made it home some nights.

Not the brightest thing I've heard of for these kids to have been playing.

But this is a tragedy, until I had kids I had no idea how much pain losing one might inflict on a person.

I have some idea now and for these stories I just can't help but think of the parents who have to live with this.

Truly sad. Kids do stupid stuff, especially boys. I know I did, and my friends did, and even my sons did - but nothing like this. Well, not my sons that I know of anyway.

"And here's your sign."

Ah, the memories of an ill spent youth.
I remember telling my mother I cut my foot on a piece of metal,
when a friend stuck a big knife through the side of my foot playing stretch.

Evolution in action. Good riddance.

I may have done some dumb things, but nothing anywhere remotely approaching this level of stupidity.

I mean...having someone fire an arrow at you? Nope.

And today's Darwin Award goes to...

We played swamp wars as a kid, but we drew the line at wrist rockets and ball bearings and we wore goggles.

Dodge Arrow.

Before my children were born, tragedies seen on the news were sad. Once they came along, it wasn't someone ELSES kid I saw on the front page, the website, it was my kids.

At least we know who won.
