A Leicester City football fan recently accepted £30,000 from a bookmakers to end his 5000-1 bet on Leicester winning the UK Premier Football League (no - it's not an argument about Football vs Soccer or tough vs sissy)

Basically, Leicester City have never won the top football league, only once (1928) looked like winning it and in the last 30 years have never really threatened the higher up clubs by looking like winning the league. They have also never really attracted the top talent and there is no draft pick such as in Grid Iron to bring top players in.

Then - from near relegation last year - they hired a noted Italian manager who has really turned things around and they are 8 games from winning the top division in England.

So - last year, a diehard Leicester fan put £18 on them winning the championship at 5000-1 odds and could have pocketed £90,000 if Leicester hold on for the last 8 games and come out on top. Last week, he was contacted by the bookmakers and offered £30,000 to walk away now.

He took the £30,000 but what would you do if it was you?

Take the 30.000. If the bookmaker bankrupt or sends the heavies you lose. Even taking it to court is a long and winding path one doesn't need.

Should have stayed the course. They are going to win.. he wasted 60k.

Cash out.

£30,000 is a brilliant return on £18. A once in a lifetime opportunity and I'd take it in a heartbeat. I wouldn't risk walking away with nothing when you're talking that amount of money.

Leicester winning is not a statistical certainty (though very likely).

£30, 000 was an immediate reality.

Case closed.

Hope they do win though, it's fantastic.

A bird in the hand!

My congratulations to the guy!

It aint a certainty, but looking at the 8 games, the lead, and how the competition are handling the pressure... it is a 90+% certainty imo.

I would have countered with £60,000 and seen what they came back with.

I would have waited :)

what a ridiculous answer. Neither is likely to happen:roll:

Teams have fallen apart end season from less pressure than that
