I am no dummy so of course the soon to be gone Sears is not a option.

I walked into BESTBUY and got lied too for sure, and they dont have much stock, and they are a company that was almost gone two years ago and they still dont seem to have a solid plan, so they are out.

I dont want to so straight mail order, though maybe I could be talked into it.

So should I do Home Depot or Lowes? The customer service was better at Lowes, though HD was fine.

I dont know who HD uses for extended warrenty, I forgot to ask, but Lowes uses A&E factory service which at least in my area is your basic horror story if you try to use them. I would not normally use Extended warranty but with such being such crap these days I would consider it, one year is not much at all for standard warranty, and not even more for the fridge compressor. Still a really bad warranty partner reflects poorly on Lowes for me.

gas range
fridge
dishwasher
dryer
Maybe range hood and maybe washer.

Thank you in advance

How about Costco? They have an excellent warranty program. Or factory direct? Or an appliance specialty place. Don't necessarily have to do Lowes or Home Depot. Me if I am getting an appliance suite I would focus and kitchen and then laundry room and get one brand or the other for each room.

Costco does not have what I need, our local people are no longer any good, and factory direct is the all internet thing which while I have learned to buy a lot of things online I dont know that I want to do this with so much money and with things that tend to need expensive service. Have you done mail order appliances and if so how did that work out?

EDIT: I should point out that I keep up on things enough to know that Lowes and HD are selling a lot of appliances, they are at the top of the list for sales. I also know that HD is particular is making a big push to gain market share as Sears dies.

i shop in stores that specialize in appliances
the sale staff tend to have a better understanding of the makes and models than the big box stores' personnel

bosch is my current go-to brand
if i find no other than stands above the others

If I were doing good stuff I would, but we are bankrupt (5 Years) because my restaurant chain idea did not work. We are at the end of the lifespan on almost everything so I am getting 2 -3 steps up from the worst stuff. I will do better later.

HD and Lowes assemble which I really like, and haul away is $15 a piece which is a lot less than it would cost me I think.

Last time I bought a refrigerator from Lowes, they delivered, set up everything except the water in the door and took away my old one without charging me a dime. Not sure if they still do that or not.

They dont but the manager has the authority to wave the fee, which they do to close the deal if you are looking to buy enough.

They didn't even ask. Unless they charged something that was built into the price, I didn't get charged a thing.

We bought appliances from Home Depot and were pretty happy with them. We also did the extended warranties because they were quite cheap. We've had to get a couple of minor things worked on and dealing with the warranty company wasn't a big hassle.

Before sears went south, I used to buy my appliances from them, they used to have the best prices and warranties. Of course they have went south since then, and it is hard to even find a sears super center.

From my experence lowes and homedepot gouge customers. Some things have a 20% markup over other stores to a 4000% markup in the extremes. For example I can buy straight plywood from a local store with greater overhead for less that a quarter of the price the big two would charge. When I had to buy angle iron, they were charging close to 15 bucks for a 3 foot section, while the local welding supply company charged me 3 bucks.

With the angle iron especialy shows the massive markup, iron right now is next to worthless, many only paying one to two pennies a pound for scrap, yet charging a fortune for anything made of it. When I shopped I realized how bad they gouged customers, to the point I could drive a little and save a fortune.

Both Lowes and HD do price match on appliances , but of course the way they evade that is that a lot of the stuff they sell are products that are exclusive, so that goes away.

Pretty much thinking that I go with HD because there install fees are a lot less, and because of my financial situation extended warranty makes a lot of sense....Lowes uses A&E which in my area gets horrible reviews, HD uses Asurion which looks like it is better. To be fair Lowes charges less for extended warranty.

This is all new to me, for most of my adult life I have lived in rentals or military housing, and when we moved into this house it was only three years old with builder grade but only 3 year old appliances. But dang, they are all 15 years old, the stove and dishwasher are just barely functional and I thought last summer in the heat the fridge was not chilling as well even though the coils were freshly cleaned.

Redneck those appliances, if you have a strong desire to play with oxy acetalene torches and welders that go up to 8k degrees, you can fix anything, or destroy it enough for the insurance you bought beforehand to buy new ones.

We ended up doing HD, because they allowed a 10% military discount and their set up charge was half what lowe's is, and because it looks like the extended warrenty is with a better firm at least in my area. The stuff came in today and I was very impressed with the delivery and set up. The only down side is that the guys are not licensed tradesmen, they are more like handymen types, and the assistant was a mexican who speaks no english. Hopefully he is legal as I think illegals should be thrown out of the country ala Trump.
