Comcast doesn't like its customers using their own routers, and it's fighting back

Re: Comcast doesn't like its customers using their own routers, and it's fighting bac

I am under Cox's thumb, I do have my own router for internet, but, they of course rent me my cable box, which is just theft.....but that will be changing soon, you will be able to buy your own cable box....a better cable box, once the new regulations (which the cable companies HATE) go through.

Its not theft if you asked for it. Did they force you to buy cable tv? Ironically, I hated comcast X1 so much, I got a tivo, and now Comcast gives me $2 off my cable bill for NOT using their box.

fake story.... anyone is allowed to advertise using adwords, adsense, and all that other bull****, the only difference is, instead of seeing geico you may see comcast router add etc.

Also change your DNS to a non Comcast dns and clear your cookies....

I'm happy to have been a DirecTV customer for over 20 years. More reliable, better quality and I can use any router I choose.

What a douchebag company.

True story. When we obtained comcast, we called ahead for some information...when where, what. The lady on the phone told us which router to buy. Then the installer came with the company router, told us that we must use their router to be able to subscribe to their bundle ( Net, TV, Phone). Since it had been over 2 weeks from when we bought the router until they installed and connected their service, we owner the store bought and completely useless router, until we finally found someone who wanted to buy it.

No Net/TV/Phone? Call the company...or rather some automated system. Wait 3 days. Don't call again in the meantime, because we have your number stored and know you already called and we will tell you so.
And with all that fine customer service, they now want to raise our rate by $ 40.
Here is the kicker. The others are just as lousy. They all know we want service, and they milk us for all we got.

Direct TV internet is contracted, usually by your cable or phone company.

Isn't TiVo the best DVR around?

Been a TiVo user / subscriber for years now. I don't think I could go back to the old TV model.

DirecTV is owned by AT&T. So DirecTV internet is AT&T internet. They also sell Exede satellite service which I have. But I've been talking about DirecTV television service.
