Jerry Jones. Owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Not 10 minutes ago. Walked over to a local chocolate/coffee shop for lunch. Didn't ask him why he was here in Santa Fe but spoke with him briefly.

Told him that a couple people from my high school ended up playing ball for him and he asked who and that was about it.

When you ran into him did you break his collar bone?

Should of asked him to start as QB this weekend.

I'm a lifelong Giants fan. Can't stand the guy. But it would still be neat to bump into him like this.

He came off really nice and polite. I dig his passion for the game rather than just being like the Ford family that owns the Lions who just... own them in a do-nothing sort of way as a some kind of hobby just to have something to do with their money.

His entire family bleeds Cowboys blue. His daughter runs the Cheerleaders. His sons Jerry & Stephen work in the organization. I will admit he's a very good owner.

I think he's a bit over the top though and should hire his coach and put some confidence in him. He meddles a lot and micro-manages his coaches sometimes. But that's not him trying to be a dick boss it's just in his passion.

My parents were very good friends with the Maras, who owned the Giants. Ann Mara, Wellington's wife, was one of my mother's best childhood friends, and was at their wedding. Old man Mara used to say that it was important to not meddle in the daily affairs of his team. Somehow I don't think Jerry ever subscribed to that concept.

At first I thought you did Cowboys' fans a favour and ran into Jones in your car.

I gotta be honest. If I owned a team, I'd be all in reading up on the recruiting and drafting potentials. That's fun IMO. It'd be hard for me not to meddle.

Tell me about it, I'm a Lions fan. :( It's interesting to me how someone so busy with so much going on has any time to talk to all of the people who come up to them all day long, so it's always nice to know someone like that is polite. Was he with an entourage?

Nope. Just a lady and him.

That's another thing that amazes me, as filthy rich and famous as he is, it's nice to know he can casually walk around with just a lady.

I did run into James Brown once when I was at a bar and he came with a FULL entourage. I just kinda waved as he went by.

That's not surprising, although it would've been pretty cool. The only celebrity I've met was Kato Kaelin (if you want to call him a celebrity) when I worked at a Sears in Burbank, CA.. I didn't even know it was him until he walked away after asking me a question and another employee told me.

I've run into a few. I tend to not get star-struck. It's easy for me to strike up a conversation with them without acting like a drooling fan-boi which tends to make them close up.

Yup, I think the reason why the Cowboys arent doing better than they should is because of Jerry's meddling- he also happens to be their GM I think.

I bet he was thinking, "I thought I'd be able to enjoy an afternoon out in peace way over here."

Jerry Jones: the man who fired Tom Landry. And then got a facelift.

I was brief. Didn't want to intrude that much.
