It is normal for team members to have and express their own ideas since every individual has his own background, gender and hobbies.
If you are to assemble a team, do you want your people to have different opinions?

Yes.

it's important to know the details, for a detail that you miss could be the difference between success and failure.

A good leader knows how to use that knowledge to achieve the best ends.

Absolutely. One person does have to be in charge, and does have to make the final decision, but everyone must have a voice.

Whether I want them to or not, they will.

I ran a few projects, and I believe I always listened to different opinions. But I always made the decision (my project, and I was more experienced at it...which was why it was my project). But I always believed in not micromanaging. However each person wanted to do something was fine with me, as long as it wasn't totally off the wall and inappropriate.
