There's something i'[ve been wondering about the last couple of months.

I personally believe that, generally speaking, overall, in America dogs are a more popular pet than a cat.

However, there seems to be something of a conundrum here.

I think, but am uncertain, that funny cat videos are far more popular than funny dog videos.

I could be wrong, but I think there are a lot more of funny cat videos than funny dog videos.

I might be wrong though.

What do you think?

Never thought about it.

As for animals, I have both dogs (3) and cats (13), as well as 2 horses and a mother-in-law.

Regarding videos, I like them both (cats and dogs). For instance, one that I really like that I saw just yesterday for the first time is:

Those guys are obviously lucky puppies.

One of my horses has a large tub that she plays in and a pond that she swims in. This one is not my horse, but my tub is similar to this plastic pool:

Cats love pools, too. Although they will not admit it:

As for mother-in-law videos, well, I don't find them to be funny at all.

Funny cat videos are definitely funnier. And the reason is simple.

Dogs are naturally goofy. So when you see them do something funny it isn't that surprising.

Most cats, however, walk about with an air of sophistication. An "I'm better than everyone" attitude. So when they do something stupid it is an order of magnitude more hilarious.

I like cats.

My very soul seems connected to dogs, however.

I don't think a lot of the so-called "funny" cat videos are all that funny, they're mostly stupid. There are plenty of stupid dog videos too. Maybe cat fans just have a lower threshold?

I think most people fundamentally like both animals, and while some might lean to "team dog," some get cats instead due to lower cost of maintaining them, and the ability to leave them alone for a long work day -- something more and more Americans have to live with in a tougher work environment and with more people living alone.

Personally, I just lean "team cat," which is why I have a cat only. But I do like dogs.

As to the videos, well, there's just something a little confounding about cats. Their way of communicating is further away from humans than dogs, so some people might find it more fascinating to watch (or alternatively, might find them to be less tolerable to be around).

I don't know about the videos, but you don't have to wonder about dogs vs. cats. The pet food & supply companies know: Dogs are king. There is much more money spent on dogs annually than on cats, because there are more dogs as pets.

Personally, I prefer the dog videos. Dogs just do more outrageous & funny things, IMO. Here's Gus, who likes his pool so much that he decides to take it inside!:
