I started putting my packet together today to "petition" the Army for my retirement pay that I already earned. I noticed that the points on my Form 249-2-E were not correct so I called HRC. They told me to attach my Form NGB 22A to the back of my Form 108 and they would correct the points on my Form 249-2E. Oh yeah, and don't worry about completely filling out my Form 108 because they would just take the data off my Form NGB 22A to use in lieu of my Form 108 but still include the Form 108 with the top portion filled out. Then I told the person that I wasn't sure that I had my NGB Form 22A. The person told me that it was available to me on the HRC web site and that she was looking at it, along with all my other records. If they have it why the hell do they want me to print all this stuff out and send it to them for?

Maybe they want you to confirm the data?

Nope. I would be verifying that the data they have is the same data they have. They want me to pull data from their records and send it to them.

are you guard or reserve??they seem to be the ones demanding points for retirement, while active duty military tends to go off years of service except the few instances they offer early retirement, which is usually during reduction of forces.

[Colorado here myself - in the town described as "15 square miles... surrounded by reality"]

I suspect they haven't a clue why they need them either. Was in the service myself and I didn't get the impression people as you're dealing with ever knew anything beyond the "step 1: do this; step 2: do that; step 3: see step 1" litany.

The term military intelligence is a oxymoron like jumbo shrimp and fun run.

I was a Title 32 Guard Tech. I worked as a full time tech at Buckley AFB working on Army aircraft.

They know what they are doing. The know so much about the system they are pretty good at working around the broken parts.

yeah i figured guard.

they go by points instead of years, and 20 years does not exactly mean retirement.

however the texas guard is probably worst with retirement.at 20 years if you have the points safest bet is to put in a retirement packet,as they retention boards for those over 20 years in,atleast for enlisted.if you dont have your packet in,and are 28 or so years in,and they decide to can you so other soldiers can move up in rank, you lose your retirement, and instead get a severance styled package since you would be eliminated without a retirement packet.

so far as i have heard texas is the only state that does that.

I forced them to find me physically unfit and remove me from military service. That locked me in on the civil service side and forced them to move me to Retired Reserves. They kept asking me why I didn't just retire and I kept telling them, "Cause I don't trust you." That was 6 years ago. I am turning 60 pretty soon and I want my pay as soon as I am eligible. I put in my packet every two years and I passed every two years after 20. They were still whining when I got out at 28. Offered me a promotion, that would have required some illegal finagling. They were worried about lost experience, expertise, blah blah. It was time for someone to step up and do their jobs rather than rely on me to do it for them. Now I play in my own forest and do what I want when I want.
