25th Anniversary

most of Central America. cheap, fun, exotic, cultural - can't really go wrong. the southwest region of Nicaragua is an amazing place to city hop for a couple of weeks. hike in the jungle, surf on blue water, fish for gigantic tropical species, get poo flung at you by monkeys. amazing.

oh but I mean if you want to go the all-inclusive route, Jamaica is amazing. Alaska's a damn good idea too.

I'm getting drawn to going to Belize. Of central america... Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatamala kind of scare me. Especially El Salvador. Could be unfounded but the crime seems off the charts. Belize appeals to me due to a lot of Mayan ruins to check out, nice beaches and its an English speaking nation making getting around more easy for us english only speakers.

The wife and I are headed on a cruise to Mexico in May. I've never been on a cruise. Did south Mexico for our honeymoon... I'm sooooooo pumped. Good luck on yours.

We've done the short 3 day cruise to Ensenada and back. Had a great time.

Finally made the decision on the Alaska cruise. We booked it last night. Will be flying into Seattle Friday the 24th. The wife wants to visit the space needle Saturday morning. The ship sails at 4:00 PM on Saturday and returns the following Saturday morning. Stops include: Ketchikan, AK, Juneau, AK, Skagway, AK, and Victoria, British Columbia. Now it's time to nail down the details on what we want to do and what packages we want to add. The ultimate drink package is $79 per person per day. Includes all cocktails, spirits, beer and glasses of wine, soda and juices.

Looks like we are 95% go on the Alaska cruise. It will be about $2100 for the both of us plus airfare from Phx to Seattle and back. Should be a blast.

Take lots of pics for the Tavern! Congratulations, and hope you both have a fabulous time!

I was in Seattle a little over a week ago, we go one or two times a year to visit our daughter, seen the space needle but have never gone up it yet.

So much to see and do, I spent many happy day wandering the museums, and the coffeeshops in Amsterdam lol

Get out of the USA and off the mass market tours, Europe can be done cheap

Been to Europe. Hell, I lived there for a year and a half. Never been to Alaska, plus we already bought the cruise.

We stayed at the Lake Yellowstone Hotel for our 25th. Great place, good dining. Very relaxing.

Very much so. I can't imagine what the place is liked when it's closed down during the winter.

Me and SWMBO are celebrating our 25th anniversary next summer and we're trying to decide what to do. We want to do something different. Our vacations over the last decade have been the typical Disney Land, LA, camping variety and we want something new. We're looking to spend a couple of grand. We're thinking about a nice cruise or one of those all inclusive resort packages. Any ideas from the peanut gallery here?

I took Yes Ma'am here (Sugar Bay Resort and Spa) for our anniversary a few years ago, and we loved it. We renewed our vows on the rooftop and it was great.

It doesn't cost all that much, it's on the opposite side of the island from the other tourist hotels, there's a boat rental place around the corner that we rented a boat and went snorkeling on our own off of St. John and the straight between St. Thomas and St. John, and there's one of those "walk underwater" attraction around the other corner that was real fun as well. They'll pick you up at the airport or you can do like we did and rent a car - just remember to drive on the left side, not the right.

We're going back soon.

Leaving the house in about a half hour, pick up the wife at work, then straight for the airport. Can't wait.

What a fantastic trip and it didn't rain until the last day at sea on the way back from Skagway.
