This is the new word - hmm?

Because I hadn't heard this word related to anything other than Opthomology in YEARS and years - and now it's all over politics. "Well the optics of the situation certainly don't look good."

Not only is it annoying - but as used above, it's redundant.

But it is less annoying than gravitas. Lol

The political phrase I'm getting to hate is "Let me be perfectly clear".

Because perfect clear transparent optics are the best ones. Except for the coated ones, cuz they are even awesomer.

The best optics are clear so you can see the drink pouring into your glass.

Now I'm gonna be listening, and looking for it. :2brickwal

Who knew that situations have optics? This happens because simply saying "it doesn't look good" or "it looks good" doesn't convey that sense of an overarching intelligence that the hoi polloi lack.

The phrase I loath is "moving forward". I hear some people in the news and some politicians use it over and over in a single conversation. It drives me nuts!

At least "moving forward" makes sense.

"The optics of the situation...." is so pathetically stupid it's astounding.

I think that is why "moving forward" drives me so nuts. I do not see it making much sense. As apposed to what us moving backward or sideways? We can only move forward [in time].

There's plenty of directions to move that are not "forward".

Forward does not have to be a time.
Forward can be a direction.
Making progress.
Not digging ourselves deeper into a hole.

Moving forward can be equivalent to "taking the next step".
As opposed to quitting.

Hehe

The optics of the situation literally prompted us to move forward, putting the carrot before the proverbial ass.

uber overuse of that verbal dynamic, thereby reducing any opportunity for synergy as we process the new paradigm with our human resources

Howdy Aunt Spiker

The optics of the situation literally prompted us to move forward, putting the carrot before the proverbial ass; while 'reaching out' to 'empower' ..............

And the beat goes on

Ass and carrots should never be mentioned together.
