We're Screwed[W:62]

So you agree that there was only one comment instead of the multiple comments you implied in your original comment. Thanks, admission checked and noted.

BTW I agreed with her that Republicans seem to often be motivated by fear, which is really a little off topic, not that they had a corner on the idiot market.

Yep, we're all afraid of people who are different than us (i.e. racist). You're right though, you just showed that we do not corner the idiocy market (speaking to your silly assumptions, not you).

Do let me know when you actually do find a liberal to criticize or someone on the right you don't assume is racist, because I guess I've never seen it.

The post I responded to said nothing about "left leaning"

You're seeing things that aren't there. Sleep deprivation can do that to a person

How dare you insinuate that I'm seeing things that aren't there. And, goddamn, that's a huge frikkin' anteater you're carrying. I've never seen one with tusks before.

For the record X. The source has nothing to do with it. Either the guy did it or he didn't. He did in fact do it. That makes him look like a clueless buffoon regardless of who's bringing us the story. Now go to bed. I'm finished talking with you tonight.

Other than my one reply to Sangha, the only "source" I've taken issue with, tonight, is, well, you.

Vm, I believe you're missing her point that the smug face of this politician is a typical and representative expression of the disdain and flippancy, that ALL our political leaders really have for the common populaces problems with their leadership.

It's infuriating to see someone from either party act like nothing really matters very much, since they're so elevated and special.
Its horse****. A progressive website posted a gotcha video of a freshman congressman that made a mistake. Smug? Dood has been a congressman for 30 days. I think he looked scared to death and was commenting because he is on a committee and is supposed to say SOMETHING. At the very least he gets props for being honest about making a mistake.

Nah...the 'We're screwed' commentary over something as small as that...well...it is what it is.

That's my Chow-Chow, and while her muzzle is long for a Chow-Chow it's not all that big.

FTR, you're right about seeing things. One night after 12 hours of standing at a polling place I went to a poll watching party. When I finally could drive home, I saw some headlights coming straight toward me. I'm like, "this idiot is driving on the wrong side of the road". Freaked me out, until I got "closer" and realized there was no car at all, just street lights.

Say hi to your Chow for me and tell her to to stop winking at me.

As far as over reacting, I've seen plenty of that here. I'm personally not a sides kind of person but that guy made a committee after being in Congress for only 30 days?

I'm sorry but he either naturally looks smug or it's an idiot face, but it's not a gracious look.

Moderator's Warning:
Cut out the personal attacks.

Secretary of State material right there.

If maxine waters can get elected, anyone can.

I saw her on 'The Colbert Report' not too long ago and she came off as bit of a Ding Dong.

The word moron comes to my mind. She is a freaking embarrassment.

I think age has a some to do with it also. Nancy Pelosi is not near as sharp as she used to be, and that was never a terrible lot. Some people also keep their marbles better than others. My parents in their late 70's and up till the end were smarter than I've ever been.

These politicians should have some age related qualifier or test, so they're not serving as an incompetent. I'm not normally an ageist, because the poor old souls don't have much left in this world, but we can't let misplaced sympathy cause anymore problems with Congress than it already has.

How so? I don't even know the party the guy is in and didn't mention his party in the OP?

From the second paragraph (right below the video pic):
Clawson, a Republican from Florida, is not well known, having just been sworn in as a member of Congress on June 25. (He replaced Trey Redel who was busted for cocaine possession.)
- pretty hard to miss, since it's near the top of the story.

Anyway, does anyone besides me find it ironic that in a story about a stupid politician, the author of the story apparently can't spell?
During a congressional hearing Thursday, Foreign Policy reports, a member of Congress mistakeningly assumed that two senior U.S. government officials were actually representing India.

The word is MISTAKENLY, not mistakingly, lol. What an idiot. :lamo

Unfortunately, here we see a faux pas taken out of proportion in circumstances that could easily excuse this mistake, and for nothing else but some partisan hackery. How soon we forget the 57 states, the ill advised gift to the Queen and many other should have knowns by a man who was voted into office, twice. Of course these words spoken by a newly elected Rep carry so much more weight than those uttered by our fearless leader.

Now that we have established that this may, or may not, be subject to partisanship, how about discussing the actual event?
Do any of you find this excusable, given that the Rep is still a newbie? I am assuming that its not so easy to get your footing, having your staff advise you as to proper protocol, informing you, passing on all the necessary information to make comments above reproach.
On the other hand, should we expect much more from well established officials?

Since these are the same characters who so often declaim from the pulpits of their office, would it be unreasonable to expect that they might comport themselves with similar rectitude?

That's why you agreed with this you ****ing liar.

Good grief, I don't even care if you are a shill, just stop acting all innocent. You had me fooled for a bit. Be a hack but be an honest one at least.

I'm neither a hack nor a shill. I just call it as I see it. I don't think all right-wingers are like that, obviously me being one myself, but I see alot of people with a legitimate fear of these outsiders and it leads to them to support highly destructive policies to keep them out. A closed border, armed border patrols, National ID cards...things that don't belong in a free society. These things are justified with excuses like "they're gonna take muh jobs" or "they're gonna take all the welfare" or "they are gonna bring diseases" and a number of petty excuses that really have no basis in reality. That's what I see and if I'm a "shill" or a "hack" for that noticing that and expressing my discontent about it...so be it.

This guffaw should have been good for a laugh on both sides of the aisle, since the guy clearly opened his mouth without the slightest clue as to who the people he was "questioning" were. Instead, it got turned into a partisan turf war.

The moral of the story is apparently that there is no topic on the face of the planet that cannot be twisted into a stupid, finger-pointing, insult-ladened brouhaha. That is sad... really sad. :(

Meet The Congressman Who Assumed Two Senior U.S. Officials Were Foreigners | ThinkProgress

What a tard. Seriously, how tired are you of seeing idiots like this in positions of power. How do people like this get elected?! This is not about whether or not you agree with their positions on various issues or whether or not you deem them ridiculous, this is about being so clueless (not to mention smug and arrogant. That smirk made me want to punch this guy in the head) that you say something this patently stupid.

Why is he a "tard," exactly? Anyone could've made that mistake.

I mean... Really, what else are you supposed to think when you see two very Indian people, with two very Indian names, sitting side by side at a function like that?

There was no reason whatsoever to assume that they weren't Indians given the information he had available.

The worst he's guilty of here is not doing his homework before going in, and having an (admittedly, somewhat smarmy) play for "P.C." brownie points blow up in his face.

There was no reason whatsoever to assume that they were Indians either. There's no reason to make any assumptions.
