This Family is Road Tripping Using Only Bitcoin

That's pretty cool - I'd love to take a road trip and not have to come up with cash.

But Cracker Barrel as sinful? Only if you eat there. I hate that place. It's so overpriced, and they lead you to believe you get all this homemade, fresh food, and it's all canned, frozen and prepackaged. Almost everything there is either frozen or canned.

Haven't been to one in years. I'm with you; the food is marginal at best. They used to have really cute gift shop concessions, though.

They still do. I love shopping there around the holidays. They have really cool stuff, and a lot of it is local to your location. I just have a problem with the food. The pancakes are good, the biscuits are decent - most everything else is kind of bland and uninspired. The last time we ate there, we were there for breakfast, and the pancakes were so cold, that they wouldn't even melt the butter.

I thought it was a lot of unnecessary hassle, and for what?

Plus, they bought the bitcoins with... wait for it... money, so money was not eliminated from the equation. Really, they could have bought a bunch of gift cards and gift certificates and achieved the same end result.

Oh. See, I don't know what bitcoins are. I just thought they were some kind of fake "internet money" that you get from playing those stupid Facebook games. Shows how much I know.

 They are more than that, though personally I think that's a pretty apt description.

I think the concept of bitcoins is neat, but the fact that they rival gold in price (last time I checked) makes them a bit difficult for the average user to incorporate into their finances.

They are hardly viable as safe finance though. Too much fluctuation and unstable. From what I remember, they fluctuated from $30 to a couple thousand within mere months. As any seasoned bitcoin user could tell you, it's definitely not safe as an investment.

I completely agree with this. Unless I'm missing something they're not based/valued on anything other than hype.
