We were at a mass on Sunday for Mr. Tom's granddaughter's baptism. At communion, I noticed at least half the people only taking part in the bread. There was a separate line for the wine that lots of people didn't partake of. After the service, I asked my Catholic friends why this was, and they said it's because of germs. Seems most churches in the Chicago area use a common cup which they wipe after every sip. (I hadn't noticed that.)
Why, in the name of all that's holy, aren't they using this? Every other church I've been to uses them; why not Catholics?
Anyone know?
Also noticed no one was asking, "Are you Catholic?" as they went through the line. But that's another thread.
