Have you ever been scammed?

I was once. For only $500 or so, if I recall. A Ponzi Scheme. Our company did work for him, and we watched him turn straw into gold for six months or so as he built his little scheme. We finally decided we needed to get in the action and gave him $500, for which he promised us $750 in thirty days. Well, we'd waited too long . . . we were caught in the end game. Lost our money and could have KICKED ourselves because, basically? We knew better.

You?

Back in the 80's, I listened to a guy try and recruit me as an Amway distributor. I couldn't get away from that idea fast enough.

Sorry to hear that Maggie. Nope, I can't say that I've been scammed before. I've never been robbed either thankfully, but I have been ripped off.

Did you give the money before you got the weed?

 Damn drug dealers! J/K. I've been short-changed before at the store is what I meant. :)

I've been short-changed at fast food, drive thru's. They think you won't stay there and check your order, but I learned a certain Arby's was pretty consistent in screwing people.

The one time when I was about 15 years old this drug dealer fronted me an ounce of dirt weed. I couldn't sell any of it to anyone because everyone knew it was bunk.

"Wanna buy a joint for a dollar?"

"**** you!"

"50 cent?"

"No, it's dirt weed!"

That type of thing. I couldn't give it away. It wasn't worth a dime.

He had a pretty bad reputation as a violent dude. He had shot a few people and slashed some kid with knife. He was a murderer. Definitely not the type of guy you want to have pissed off at you.

He called up a bunch of us teens to come over to his house. Everyone else seemed to be in my same predicament. He fronted them weed and they couldn't sell it.

"How much you got left?" He asked me.

Most of it.

I got some good **** now.

And he tossed the dirt weed right in the ****ing trash can and gave me some red bud.

Here I was all worried that this dude was going to murder me and some of my friends over a few ounces of weed and he threw it right in the trash like it was nothing.

We kicked his ass and took all of his drugs.

I hope they don't get squished as easily. Painful.

Want some Chardonnay straight from the spig? :D

Gee. Is there any left?

I have been scammed, multiple times. Lost quite a bit of money too.

Not thus far. They'll keep trying, though.

I sat through a one hour Amway pitch from one of the millionaires in it. I knew what I was in for. I just wanted to see his historic house, drink some good coffee and tell him no. So I went and it was a beautiful place and the coffee was delicious. And I wish I had a camera to take his picture when I told him no.

I met mine at a McDonald's, riding a bike, and spent an hour getting more nervous about how to exit. :doh

I have never been scammed, but I have made many good new friends among various family members of deposed finance ministers of central African republics.
