U.S. Olympic Uniforms

Got to do something with those hand me down Christmas sweaters!

They're awful and embarrassing. I wouldn't be caught dead in that get-up.

Attention-getting.

(ahem!)

OMG, my eyes! Those uniforms look like that were cludged together from patchwork quilts by blind nuns. Horrible!

State Department warns US athletes not to wear American uniforms in Sochi, WSJ reports.....

The State Department has warned American athletes not to wear their patriotic-themed uniforms outside of Sochi venues during the Winter Olympics, and it's not out of concern for their fashion sense.

Heightened security concerns in Russia mean that the State Department is warning athletes not to wear their Team USA gear outside the so-called "Ring of Steel," the 1,500-square-mile secured area in which the Winter Games will take place.

"The U.S. Department of State has advised that wearing conspicuous Team USA clothing in non-accredited areas may put your personal safety at greater risk," reads the State Department memo, which was reviewed by the Wall Street Journal.

The Opening Ceremony uniforms were unveiled Thursday to great pomp and circumstance. Created by Ralph Lauren, the uniforms are entirely domestically made, and it's difficult to imagine how they could scream AMERICA any louder.

Earlier this month, the State Department issued a warning to all Americans traveling to Sochi, which poses "an attractive target" to terrorists.....snip~

Ralph Lauren did say they would be fashionable. Course they should follow State's Advice and not wear them outside any venue.

The official USA uniforms are quite ugly.

Question: Where are they being made this year?

Wasn't it the last Olympics where the Team USA uniforms were actually made in a foreign country?

I must be the only one who likes the patchwork ones. Pretty cool. Especially the snowboarder jacket.

Those three are the top national colours worldwide. The Russians seem mainly red and white, though

Those poor Norwegians look like an explosion in a swastika factory!
