OK, so I've been brainwashed into the Information Age. If I can't do business with you online, I'm probably not going to do business with you at ALL!

Yes, I'm irritated about something. No doubt it shows.

Information, knowledge and wisdom are three different things.
"Information age" doesn't really say anything important, it's just an expression.
Welcome to the club of irritated! :)

Well, you do have the answer to any question you could possibly have at the tip of your fingers.

That doesn't mean its the right answer though, after all you still believe that time zones are dictated by gravity and planetary alignments or something else completely ridiculous. Probably think the earth is flat too.

Time zones are dictated by the sun - that is the reasoning behind them. It's amazing you don't understand this and attempt to portray me as the idiot.

Yeah I remember that thread - the notion that some county in Florida could just "dictate" their own timezone - and that seemed perfectly rational to a lot of posters.

It's mind boggling to me I even have to explain this to you.

If we didn't turn our clocks back or forward - what we would call 1pm would end up being 3AM on our windup wall clocks eventually, which was a concept many couldn't rationalize.

For some reason some idiot in Florida believes that wont happen, and many in some mystically ****ed up way agreed.

Also, gravity does have an affect on time - because gravity slows the earths rotation down - it's nothing significant in our lifetime but surely a million years from now time will certainly slow down a little bit and clocks and such would have to be adjusted... Hell our GPS satellites already make self adjustments based on gravity.....

Did you know there's a US state called Arizona which doesn't turn its clocks backward or forward at any time of the year and somehow manages to not end up with 1PM being in the middle of the night for example?

God you are funny.

You do know there are certain points on the earth that don't have to - but Florida is not one of them.

You an draw the line anywhere on earth where you would like to use for a reference point..

Why the hell do you think the military uses military time?

The entire point of time zones is to ensure that the sun goes down in NY at 4:30pm and at 4:30pm in LA, and the only possible way for that to happen is through time zones and guess what? when the sun goes down in NY at 4:30 its only 1:30 in LA - you know why that is? because our earth spins and rotates around the sun.

Without timezones our entire daily and work schedules would be completely ****ed - every year our clocks would move an hour forward...

You don't understand any of this do you? considering you're questioning my knowledge on the issue it's obvious you don't.

If you doubt what I'm telling you - go out and buy an old alarm clock, set it to your local time and see how far it goes off your standard time every year - check it in 3-5 years it it will be 3-5 hours ahead of your standard time.

What, have you never found an old clock that still works and then realized the time it's telling you is off by hours, despite the fact you didn't do anything to it??? you think ghosts were changing your clock?

Do I have to explain seasons to you next?

Then you claim I believe in a flat earth?

How does gravity play into it again though?
