If you had to choose the navy or The Marine Corps which would you choose.

I just curious after some friendly taunting between Redress and myself I was wondering...

If you had to choose a branch of military service to go into which one would you choose: The Navy or The Marine Corps.

Navy obviously. Navy: "it's not just a job, it's an adventure". Marines: "oh darn, the sailors need me to drop the soap in the shower again, back later guys".

Navy, but I'm educated.

If I was just some grunt with a gun, I'd be a jarhead like my dad.

The Navy, chauffeurs for the Marines. I chose the Marines.

If you choose the Marine Corps, you are also choosing the Navy.

I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that.

So Sailors are lazy then? :)

I believe I scored too high on the A.S.V.A.B. to get into the Marines. NAVY all the way baby!

Actually, the Marines ARE a part of the NAVY. But don't tell them that.........

I would probably go Navy.

The United State Marine Corps.....I could be a poolee for a lot longer there, and their boats don't get stuck in Japan for 6 months awaiting repairs ;)

An inconvenient fact that Marines would rather ignore haha.

We don't ignore it. We embrace our naval heritage.

Marines. It's the perfect home for those of us who are a little crazy.

Assuming you're using "we" as a Marine yourself, you must know that Marines don't have tours of duty on combatant ships anymore (e.g. Destroyers, Cruisers, Aircraft Carriers).

I have known that but when you use the word combatants in such a general way. It hard to know what you were referring to.

For the most part it's not really needed right now in the world of warfare. There isn't much need for infantry on warships since when is the last time that a naval ship had to repeal boarders. Marines are still station on ships with the MEUs.

Stated regarding your Naval Heritage comment.

Maybe I should have said surface combatants. NBD

Back in 1961 (52 years ago.) I chose the U.S. Army.

R.A. all the way.

It's too late to change now.

He can still honor our naval heritage without being station on a ship. For example why do you think the EGA (Eagle, Globe, Anchor) the symbol of the Marine Corps was an anchor in it?

Marines, the Navy is very good at giving rides to men who can fight.
