I agree. That is probably why football, NFL took over as the number one sport in America. Football was better suited for TV. I doubt there are that many of us old farts around who can remember baseball being king of the hill.

Agreed. When I was a boy it was baseball and then everything else.

The only national telecast was the Game of the Week with Dizzy Dean and Pee Wee Reese. To get a game on TV you basically had to live in the city where the game was taking place or in the visiting team city and not all teams back then televised their away games.

I remember holding my little transistor radio to my ear. The good ole days.

WS games were in the daytime, during school. I had a small transistor radio with a small cord and earpiece. I had the radio in my pants pocket, ran the cord up under my shirt and rested the earpiece under the shirt on top of my shoulder. I would then lean my head down to my shoulder to get updates on the game. Looking back, I suspect at least some teachers knew what I was doing, but they chose to let it slide.:peace

Most of teachers I had brought in a radio or a small TV for the students to watch the game on. But there were some hard butts. I do think today that on Saturday and Sunday the world series games should be in the afternoon. Perhaps bringing back some of the old tradition of baseball might help. Remember Ladies Day, also everyone knew on memorial day, the 4th of July and labor day, those were double header days no matter where or what city you were at.
