Is DP the best political forum?

I liked PCF. They just didn't understand your quirky sarcasm and penchant for mod-baiting, lol! We here at DP love you all the more for it. Still, this place is more fun overall.

I left pcf a long time ago, never knew if that placed improved or not but it was a horroshow of suck when I left.

Then their was that whistlestopper place.... run by a gaggle of Morons..... those had to be the worst mods ever.... (and remember I came from pcf)


Who else... oh hardcore politics. Who was that dweeb? That place, and the pw place were lands of Dp rejects.... the latter political wrinkles have this free flow moderation style where certain mods will threaten you for acting like they do. Could never tell if it was an empty threat though.... place was boring.

Oh then I checked out political hotwire. Run by a wonderful person who is taken advantage of by several of its users/mods. They have a very week infraction system in place and certain posters run all over the place with their very dumb "yer a ****head" posting styles. They house some of dp's most notorious morons...

Pf I tried, sucked.

Us message board is a basement but mired in suck.

Did I miss anyone?

I've been a member of only two or three other forums before I came here. I left those other forums for the same reason: Members verbally abusing other members...and the mods letting them get away with it.

This was my first post in this forum:

1. I am a conservative.
2. I speak only for myself.
3. I am not, nor ever have been, a member of any Party or organization.
4. I am looking for reasoned and polite political discussion.


Will I find that here?

I am happy to report that after seven months the answer to my question has been...yes.

I credit the mods and the admin staff.

That's PW, they have this odd moderating style where is seems they are more laxed, but then you'll get (at least in my experience) at least one mod making threats about "consequences" of some sort...

That and it moves really really slow.

Probably the strictest debate forum I've been a member of is America's Debate. I haven't been there is quite a while but my impression was they are much stricter than DP.

@Rev: I agree the mods at WhistleStopper were without doubt the worst I've ever seen. I saw them threaten other posters physically, as in "if I ever see you in real life I would knock your teeth out" etc. Anyone who wasn't pro-EU ultra liberal was repeatedly infracted, suspended or banned. I've never received a single forum infraction in my life, on any forum, including WS... but when one of the EU buddies repeatedly insulted me until I told him to stop being a jerk, he immediately reported me and bragged about doing so in the thread. I pointed out how many times he had insulted me in the thread. He told the mods, in the thread, that if they infracted him he INSISTED that they infract me as well. Bottom line, they suspended me... me, who had never had any infractions or warnings or anything... because a person who had repeated infractions, warnings and suspensions, had told them to.

In the PM a mod told me that they had given us both the same punishment to be fair. Fair?? I never posted at that forum again, and laughed myself silly when I heard the site's owner abscounded with the donations and closed it down.

WS truly was the worst of the worst, even though there were some posters there whom I respected. Many of them have come here, actually.

Yeah that whole theft by the owner thing was a chuckle. My guess is those same mods werent as in the dark as they claimed.

I used to like PCF alot until apathy took over. The place had alot of problems with breakdowns, and so forth, and no one cared enough to fix it. They just left it to fix itself until it finally shut down for good.

Then PP stepped in, and what a fecking joke that place was/is. The owner never is around, all the mods have quit and a bunch of frat boys are running the place. It's a joke now, and it's only a matter of time until it dies just like PCF did, because there is no one there to fix it or maintain it. It had the potential to be a decent offshot of PCF but the owner never stood by his Mods.

DP is good. One of the best I've seen.

PCF in the early days is still my all time favorite. Admin problems and issues and it outgrew itself and then the tech issues did make it even more lame. Toward the end it wasn't much fun. Modding it was a nightmare. I quit that because every time I logged on there would be a gazillion reported posts and it was all f-ing pre pubescent pissing contests and spammers. When my life changed I didn't have time for that crap. My hats off to mods and admins of these bigger sites though, I know what they go through.

This place seems to be the best that is out there right now. And yeah PP quickly became a disaster once it was no longer a PCF refuge from tech issue break downs.
