Its almost inevitable... a politician whines about the ACA and Obama, and eventually its discovered he or she is lying.
It seems not to be just politicians - but lots of writers claiming all kinds of crazy stuff which is eventually discovered to be untrue.

Heres the latest installment:

Ted Cruz, uninsured? No.

Ted Cruz’s Claim That He Was Uninsured Because of Obamacare Was 100 Percent Untrue

By Ben Mathis-Lilley

Last week Republican presidential candidate Ted "T-Bone" Cruz complained in New Hampshire that he was uninsured because of Barack Hussein Obama's sinister Affordable Care Act.

"I’ll tell you, you know who one of those millions of Americans is who’s lost their health care because of Obamacare? That would be me," Cruz told a Manchester, New Hampshire, audience. "I don’t have health care right now."

Cruz explained that he had purchased an individual policy and that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas had canceled all of its individual policies in Texas, effective Dec. 31.
This seemed at the time like a pretty bogus grievance given that Cruz had five months' warning that his policy was expiring, has access to other convenient coverage options, and is so wealthy that he could probably pay almost any health care cost out of pocket anyway. But it turns out that even those critiques of his comments gave Cruz too much credit for honesty: He actually had health insurance coverage the whole time. From the Wall Street Journal:

Mr. Cruz had in fact been automatically enrolled by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas in another, narrower-network “health maintenance organization” plan that kept him covered in January.
A Cruz spokeswoman confirmed the candidate never lost coverage and said he had "believed the family was uninsured" because of information he'd been given by Blue Cross.

What a wacky misunderstanding!

So...

...just to be clear. The title of this thread is a lie, because Cruz didn't lie about Obamacare, but rather his own coverage status?

okedoke. Got it.

Which doesn't make Cruz any better nor does it improve aca.

Apparently, the second sentence of the story evades you.

But I guess in your haste to cover for him, you overlooked it.

ObamaCare is one of those issues that you really don't have to touch if you're a GOP candidate.

It's so bad it speaks for itself and the fact that Democrat candidates have avoided like the plague in past elections speaks volumes about how horrible of a law it is.

Oh wow. And you make fun of Hillary Clinton supporters and then come in here and do these kind of desperation gymnastics. It's hilarious.

He said he lost his insurance because of ObamaCare. That's lying about ObamaCare.

It's like saying that I lost my loved one because you killed them, someone pointing out that I'm lying about you, and then someone else coming in and saying "well hes really lying about his loved one, not about CPWill...

Only a true partisan could conclude that a statement that includes "because of ObamaCare" really has nothing to do with ObamaCare.

No - he did lose his insurance due to Obamacare. That wasn't a lie - the lie was the claim that he was still uninsured.

No, its like if I kill your wife, you get remarried, and then you claim to be a lonely widower. The fact that you remarried doesn't change my deed.

Only a true partisan could conclude that a statement that includes "because of ObamaCare" really has nothing to do with ObamaCare.

The claim about Obamacare was true. The lie was simply whether or not he's remarried.

Just horrible how many more people are covered by health insurance in the US with the lowest growth in costs in recent history. Awful.

Only in rabid partisan land can 'losing your insurance' mean 'changing your insurance'.

 if your wife leaves you and you later remarry, does your new wife mean your first one didn't leave you?

If you get pulled over and a cop asks you for proof of insurance, do you tell him you lost your insurance because you changed your deductible last month or do you tell him you have insurance?

In your analogy, its like being remarried but telling people you are single because you lost your first wife.

You are conflating the first and the second statements. YES Cruz lost his health insurance due to the ACA; NO he did not lack insurance at the time of his statement, as they got new insurance.

In other words, he lied and blamed the ACA.

Glad you agree.

Ted Cruz Outraged Obama Seized His Health Insurance, Except For How He Didn’t

By Kaili Joy Gray - January 25, 2016

Ted Cruz To Cover His Family With Obamacare, THEN Kill It With Fire, Because He's A Dick
You guys hear the woeful tale of Ted Cruz trying to obtain affordable healthcare for his family, in Tyrant Obama’s Socialist America? No, not the one about when Cruz briefly considered — shudder, gasp — Obamacare, after giving up his sweet sweet golden balls insurance provided by his wife’s employer, the evil Goldman Sachs. (Of New York! With New York values!! And New York money for Cruz campaigns!!!)

Cruz ultimately decided he’d rather pay a metric (because Canadian) ton of northern North American currency from his own pocket to purchase anti-Obama insurance, opting out of the far more affordable employer-subsidized insurance through the Obamacare exchange program. Because principles. Also because idiot.

 no, he was correct to blame the ACA. He was not correct to then claim to still be uninsured.

Given the fact that he blamed the ACA for being uninsured...
He blamed the ACA for losing his insurance. That was correct. He then claimed to be uninsured. That was not.

Lie about it ?

Candidates in the last Midterms couldn't even mention it, couldn't acknowledge its existence for fear of losing their jobs.

If its so successful why did they avoid the issue altogether ?

Why did they ( Democrats ) get creamed by the GOP ?

In my opinion, Republican candidates don't need to make a big issue of Obamacare. They just have to point out that Obamacare was a crappy law that was shoved down the People's throat by Obama and the Democrats and promise to toss it in the trash if elected. They also need to reassure people that they will make sure that people who followed that crappy law don't get screwed when it's dumped.

The fact is...the Democrats won't touch Obamacare with a 10 foot pole...except, as we've seen, to push for even MORE government control of the health care industry. Republicans will beat the eventual Democratic candidate senseless if he/she continues down that road.

So since Ted Cruz, per the article you linked, believed he had lost his policy then he wasn't lying was he. but your article title says he was lying. So .. who is lying?

Whatever we think of him, Sen Cruz is a skilled debater and politico!

The other candidates don't seem to come after him as hard as they could, and I believe this is due to the other candidates' fear of alienating the conservative & T-Party factions, along with the conservative and T-Party segment of the Iowa electorate.

But Mr. Trump on the other hand, seems impervious to this and does go after him. So now, we're are seeing many of Cruz' problems surface that have long been swept under the rug. As an example, I bet few people in the general citizenry knew Ted Cruz was a natural born Canadian Citizen, until he renounced his Canadian citizenship just recently when he decided to run for President! And he pretended he didn't know he was a Canadian citizen! Wha??? :doh

I'm not sure I'm confident of a President who doesn't even know his own citizenship status or if he's covered on a healthcare plan. Seems like an irresponsible person to me.

Sounds more like a liar, to me; but then they all are!

Okay I have to say this. My hospital UT Southwestern a very good hospital no longer takes Blue Cross Blue Shield. I really loved my BCBS insurance. I had to change to a Humana Bronze policy. I go to the CHF clinic there and have been a candidate for a heart transplant that will probably eventually happen. Anyhows I do have a little bit of sympathy for Cruz on this one. But anyhows I don't because him and his cohorts certainly did everything in their power to **** up health care reform.
