After sewing son’s butt man takes plea deal

A Waukegan, Ill., man who took a needle and thread to his son’s buttocks saved his own ass by accepting a plea deal to stay out of prison.

"Randy Swopes, 52, represented himself in court Friday to accept a plea deal that sentenced him to 24 months of probation and 250 hours of public service for the January 2008 incident, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Danielle Pascucci.

[Swopes] teenage boy had a fistula in his butt and his father opted to sew it shut himself rather than take his son to the hospital, Pascucci said. The 14-year-old wound up in the hospital for almost a month because the wound became infected"

What the hell is wrong with people? Was the father on drugs, because it seems like something a drug addict would do.

Nothing amazes me I know what humans are capable of...but it doesnt make the disgust any less.

Hubby had a fistula. It can't just be sewn shut. It has to be cleaned out and sewn shut from deep within the bowel, then the passage cleaned out and THAT sewn shut. He had to go to Stanford to have it done because it is a very delicate procedure.
That is not nearly enough time to spend in the slammer. Shame on the justice system.
