If you look at EBM, he's a pretty big guy, wide shoulders, and he's got some good size arms on him. Not necessarily a body builder, but maybe a dockworker. Some guys like that, they don't look like weightlifters, they are not "ripped", but some of them are strong as hell. I've known some guys like that, dockworkers and load pullers, at a glance they looked a little "rounded" but they can lift 350 without breaking a sweat and do it all freaking day.
There's a
biiiig difference between "show muscles" and "strength muscles".
Back when I was about 19 or 20 and I was still just a laborer, this guy started working with us that was a body-builder type. He must have been 230-240. The guy was huge. While I was this kind of scrawny-looking guy who looked maybe 150, but I actually weighed closer to 180.
Anyway, the foreman says to the guy that he's got to keep up with me all day or else he's going to be fired (this was just a way to **** with the new guy because I was a damned good worker, and not many guys could keep up with me).
The guy looks at me, laughs and says "No problem. Just don't fire him because he can't keep up with me."
That, my friends, was a challenge to work this guy into the ground.
So the load of lumber comes and I tear into it like a banshee. I was flying, figuring that even if this guy was good, there was no way he was outpacing me.
To give the guy credit, he tried like hell to keep up, but by coffee time he was done.
The funniest part about it was that he really thought he was going to be fired over it. He went up to the foreman and apologized for not being able to keep up and asked if he could have a second chance. When the foreman started laughing at him, he figured out that he was being ****ed with.
It's pretty well-known on a jobsite that the easiest guys to **** with in this way are the really big, body-building muscle-types. They think that their show muscles have practical uses, which they don't.
The
really strong guys are the wirey ones and the "thick" ones that look like Epic Beard Man.
