New Jersey man's wife, girlfriend place side-by-side obituaries in newspaper | Fox News

A New Jersey man who died this week of lung cancer has attained posthumous notoriety after his "loving wife" and "longtime girlfriend" placed dueling obituaries in the same newspaper.

According to the Philly Voice, the obituaries for Leroy Black appeared on page D6 of Friday's Press of Atlantic City. One death notice notice states that Black is survived by his wife, Bearetta Harrison Black, his son Jazz, and two other children from a different relationship.

I need to actually read the obituaries to know how hilarious the dueling obituaries are. Just goes to show how bad journalism is that they don't provide that.

OMG! What a tactless cruel thing for the gf to do! Nothing like selfishly trying to cause unnecessary heartache for the family at such a sad time!

Amazing what people will do when 1 passes. I have a story, may post it someday.

What if she didn't even know the man, but did that hateful thing just to cause trouble? She is definitely a loser, IMO. I wouldn't want her Karmic reward..

Well this is quite the odd story.

Wait till you get much older and you will find what people do at times like this, funerals, person on a death bed, fighting over wills, to be rather common.

If she didn't know he was married, perhaps she thought she was the only one who cared about him.

Please do! This is the first time I've ever seen anything like this... :wow:

I wish it were so. My stepmother died in February.

Just know that average assholes turn into monsters in the "that's mine" department.

I was the executrix for my parents - my Father's will was simple because he left everything to my Mother. When my mom passed, hers was more complex because she even included great-grandchildren, which meant that bank accounts had to be set up for those under age 18 until they could inherit under State Law, so I made damn sure that everyone in my family was aware of every step I had to take along the way to get the will probated. We all still talk to each other, so I guess I did okay!

August 7th is going to be a fun night at the Greenidge Funeral Homes! :lamo

I grew up in a small town,17 K. Well this guy has 2 different women he was living with. This went on for 5 years.
he would stage a fight, say he was going to stay at his parents, and back to the other girl.
Ad I do mean small, everyone knew everyone business.

We as life would have, these 2 girls were out and decided to stop in at a local club for a drink. Sitting next to each other, they did not know the other and struck up a conversation.
That led to the men ( man) in their lives. Well let me tell you, they both ended it with him.
But in a small town he managed to carry on a double life for 5 years.

Chance meetings like this can occur even in a large city!

I took an evening undergrad economics class in the largest private university in one of the largest cities in the States. I became friends with two women in their late twenties, and we would sit together during class and hang together during breaks and after class for awhile.

Halfway through the class they found out the were dating the same guy - who also had a wife! Only one of them knew he was married! They found this out while the three of us were having a mutual conversation! Holy ****! It was the absolute most uncomfortable conversation I ever was in! I simply shut-up of course, and tried to give them some privacy, but I was stuck - class was in session! So we were all stuck together (near the front by the instructor!) while they were hotly whispering back-and-forth while trying to not disturb the class! Feeling bad for them and wanting to give then privacy, I left them alone as soon as class disbursed (and let's face it: they were so focused on each other and the situation I might as well have been invisible).

At the next class meeting one women sat by me and informed me she broke-up with the guy, while the other women (that had known he was married) sat alone on the other-side of the classroom, never interacting with us together again. I did say "Hi" to the other women once or twice when alone, and she reciprocated. Their mutual problem was not mine, and I wanted to remain neutral even though it was difficult as I was becoming more involved on a friendship level with the one that continued to sit by me. And yes, I had to put-up with an earful for the next class or two. I of course, never asked a question and never got involved.

I lost track of the more distant women after that semester, and maintained only a distant relationship with the other for another semester, as I was married and didn't want to encourage too much closeness.

I can still remember that angst filled conversation though ...

The 1 that broke up with him did not know he was married?
The other that sat off to the side, is she the one who knew he was married?

Yes, that's right.

The one that stayed by me and broke-up with him was younger - maybe early-to-mid twenties, while the other was late twenties to pushing thirty or so. The older one apparently had him staying at her place often, and previously had described him as her 'boyfriend' alluding to him as a near 'live-in' boyfriend.

The younger women had just recently started dating him for the past month or so. She was supposed to meet him after class the night of the infamous discussion, and was joyously describing her upcoming date - which is how the truth came tumbling out!

Also, both were fit, intelligent, and attractive women. They seemingly wouldn't be hurting for company, if they so desired - if that means anything to the discussion.

Any bets the other one stayed with him??
