I didn't even know the show was today until the news reported that a drunk ran down a few dozen people in front of the hotel and mentioned the pageant.

I was writing a letter to a friend of mine and was flipping channels between the GSN and the insipid pageant. I am a fan of Steve harvey so I watched maybe 15 minutes near the end.

Just watched the full clip.

I'm really not a fan of pageantry of that type but let me say... I feel for Miss Columbia... That is some harsh sauce, it's a tough world to be in and to have that happen to you must have been absolutely devastating.

That is one of the biggest **** ups I have ever witnessed in my lifetime.

OMG the awkwardness is pure comedy gold. I feel a little bad for Steve Harvey because that's not just a screw up on national television: that's a screw up on international television.

Actually this sort of thing happens all the time in beauty contests.

Whoops! Miss Florida pageant crowns wrong winner

Florida has just one-upped Delaware in the beauty-pageant gaffe department: The Miss Florida pageant crowned the wrong winner last Saturday because of a vote-counting error and has had to make an embarrassing about-face, reports the Miami Herald.

The pageant initially named Elizabeth Fechtel its winner, and the 20-year-old University of Florida student basked in the glory for all of five days, until a pageant official arrived at her house Thursday evening to inform her that first runner-up Victoria Cowen is getting the crown instead.

Miss Delaware loses crown for being a few months too old
A beauty contest winner, stripped of her crown as Miss Delaware due to age, said on Friday she had done nothing wrong and wants to be allowed to compete in the Miss America pageant even though she will turn 25 this year.

Amanda Longacre said she learned on Tuesday that she had been disqualified because the Miss Delaware pageant determined that she had violated the age requirement.

I think we can all say without a doubt that Steve Harvey will never get a hosting job for a pageant again. That was brutal.

Except neither of those are really anything like this. One was a counting error, and one was because the winner was disqualified because her age was against the rules. I mean, I love Steve Harvey, but he should have gotten that right.

I felt very sorry for Miss Columbia. How terribly uncomfortable for her to be up there, waving and walking the aisle, when he realized his mistake.

Wow, that was painful to watch... :doh

He will be apologizing for years over this one.

I can't even begin to imagine how uncomfortable that was for Steve Harvey and the ladies involved. I feel bad for them all. I like that Steve took immediate responsibility for the screw up even during a worldwide broadcast. It happens folks. Good news is no one who pays any attention to these sort of pagents will ever forget who one and who was runner up!

The prompter said ‘Miss Universe — Colombia,’” Harvey tells a producer while waving his hands emphatically on the seven-second video.

Steve Harvey Blames Mistake On Teleprompter Via Snapchat

to his credit, harvey personally and publically accepted the blame for the error while on stage
- but made a hasty stage right exit IMMEDIATELY after that apology
maybe to go cash trump's check for the MC assignment before the donald placed a 'stop payment' on it

I agree the two examples I gave were for a counting error and other for age disqualification. But there was another beauty contest that the host called the wrong name, I just couldn't remember where it was.

It sucks for Steve Harvey and there is just no way to make amends.

But why is it beauty pageants? I can't ever remember the Academy Awards making a mistake calling a winner. (of course someone now is going to find a link to an Oscar be given to the wrong actor}

I've always liked Steve Harvey and think he is a great television host. Hopefully they will forgive him - after all he's just human like all of us.

That sucks. I can tell Steve Harvey is upset. I think he genuinely feels bad. Who wouldn't!

He'll be fine. Nobody actually cares about the Miss Universe Pageant.

I have to say, I feel bad for everyone involved in that. It is one of the most awkward things I have ever seen. On the plus side, both ladies will be more famous than they would have if it had all gone off correctly. Just trying to find the silver lining.
