Nope.so is there any important info besides people suck
Cuff braids do it for you?The old uniforms! I've missed them.
Oh, it's written by the same people that wrote such masterpieces as Star Trek: Insurrection, The Legend of Zorro, Mission Impossible 3, The Island and last year's Transformers. Isn't that.......encouraging.
Well it aint discouraging. Hell might as well mention they both worked on Xena while you are at it!Oh, it's written by the same people that wrote such masterpieces as Star Trek: Insurrection, The Legend of Zorro, Mission Impossible 3, The Island and last year's Transformers. I didn't know that. Thank you for crushing that last little glimmer of hope inside me. It was starting to itch anyways.

Transformers was an OK popcorn movie as was Zorro The Island and MI3 IMO. In fact MI3 is the only MI film that I liked. But then I was not looking for Shakespeare when I went to those films.
Given the pressure on both Orci and Kurtzman for this film to revive the lagging Trek franchise (and the overwhelmingly positive early word on both the script and the footage now shown in London and New York as well as the fact they are both fans of the 60s Trek series) I'm quite willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here. Also the fact that after viewing the first rough cut of the film, the studio brass pushed it back from a December release to May speaks volumes about their confidence in the project. This will be the first Trek film shot on a "big film" budget and it already shows.![]()
BTW-Neither writer was involved in the travesty known as Star Trek Insurrection.![]()

Star Trek is a franchise, that is why. In fact it is a tent pole franchise that is the financial corner stone of Paramount. And has been for quite a long time now. There are many other film franchises such as Batman and James Bond, Jason Bourne et al.Out of curiosity, what led you to use the word "franchise"? The reason I ask is because that was exactly the word Bryan Singer used when talking about Superman Returns. He said, and I loosely quote: "I just didn't want to threaten the Superman franchise." I thought that was very interesting, and it explained very succinctly to me why the movie turned out so mediocre.
I’m sorry but I’m having a hard time attaching much importance to the numerous successful franchises that Orci and Kurtzman have worked on to your argument.Well, it just gets better and better, doesn't it?
Yeah me too, but then I had no expectation that Transformers would be a good or entertaining film. Of course I never watched a Transformers episode or ever played with a Transformer toy before I saw the movie. I was drug into the film by someone who had. And I ended up liking it, for what it was. Of course they are at work now on the sequel. The thing about all those movies is that I completely forgot that I ever watched them by the next day. I caught Transformers during the day and that evening, while recalling my day, I had to struggle to remember where two hours had gone. Seriously.
And no, I don't have alzheimers.
Well of course they do, but if the film does not stand up to the expectations of this trailer this will likely be the last Trek film made. There is much riding on the success or failure of the film, literally millions of dollars. So all involved are taking the matter quite seriously, which is not something I can do with your comments about some of the other material the two writers have worked on.It seems like the whole damn team, directors, producers and writers alike, know how to sell seats by creating the best damn coming attractions of the 21st century. It's always after you leave the theater though one feels the need to fill a dark and terrible abyss in their soul.
Roddenberry died in 1991, but as he created Star Trek his name must be attached to all Star Trek projects by law.Oh, you're right. But it lists Gene Roddenberry as a "source writer" (who did work on Insurrection) What's a source writer?

IMO what you are missing is the fact that these two writers were able to take weak ass cartoon material and shape into a functional screenplay that satisfied general movie goers as well as long time Transformer fans.
One of the studio dictates about this (Trek) film was that they do the same thing here. And with Trek they have a much deeper and better written source to base their efforts upon than a kid’s cartoon series based upon toys.

Star Trek doomed itself to mediocrity and became quite stale. This film is an attempt to reinvigorate the franchise. A film franchise is not defined by the number of books that spawned it or were spawned by same. But you will see that the Bourne films producers cast and crew disagree with you and call their franchise a franchise.Yes, I know what a franchise is, I just find that approaching a theme as a franchise tends to automatically doom it mediocrity. By the way, I wouldn't call the Bourne trilogy a franchise until they make one more movie, i.e. one more than the three books made.
Xena?Such as?
I mentioned no accolades.I don't recall Transformers receiving such accolades.
I made no assumptions. I made note of the public statements about what they are trying to achieve with the film and what the studio expected.I disagree with this assumption. A writer is either capable of creating a good story or he's not. If the writers were hampered by the shallowness of a children's toy, then what were their excuses for The Island, The Legend of Zorro and Mission Impossible 3?
You’ve done gone and put the cart before the horse on this matter. Silly biscuit.Well, if I were Kurtzman or Orci, and I really took this movie seriously, I'd say, "You know what, guys? We really need a good story here, or Star Trek is toast. And let's face facts here: we suck. No, it's true, we suck hard. We couldn't write our way out of a paper back, and our wive are having affairs on us because we can't satisfy them sexually. Yep, we sure know how to market a movie, and that's it.
Gentlemen....we need Christopher Nolan.
Yeah and the fact that original writers (who like Gene retained rights to their material, not the network) still get credit when later writers adapt their characters or concepts.Ah, I completely forgot about the Gene-not-being-alive thing.
while i can not agree with Enterprise being bestwhat kind of retardation are you stricken with where you like ENT the MOST and DS9 the LEAST?
