That is cool, but battle laser have issues with ether being pulsed or time on target for continuous wave.
Of course running jet engines brings up the possibility of gas dynamic CO2 lasers.
With the right optics (like unstable resonators) it might be possible to control the energy monster
that lives in the exhaust of a jet engine.
I talked to some guys on the early experiments, they said the feedback mirrors just evaporated.
