Japan succeeds in test flight of first stealth fighter jet

Most important take away.
Stealth jets look far cooler in black.

That's a point. Why would you call anything 'stealth' and then slap bright red paint on it?

to better observe it during test flights is my guess

they could probably take some clues from NASCAR

I think Japan needs to change its constitution. Why should it be hampered while rogue countries like NK and Iran do what they like?

If you understood the result of the second world war on Japanese society you wouldn't go there. To the Japanese, the Emperor was considered the closest thing to God on earth, infallible. The people were told and convinced the Japanese Imperial Military was invincible; all the while they were starving at the end of the war they were told Japan was winning.

It completely changed the way of life in Japan.

But all that may have made a difference, it was though when they found out about the war crimes and what the JIA did, that the people demanded a way to prevent the government fro leading them into a false, colonial based war.

Years ago I had a friend who had grown up in Japan, and told me how they had been starving for months and were told the war was over...and Mac Arthur was coming. They lined the streets with home made American flags, cowering in fear as they were sure Mac Arthur would have the machine gunned...

I watched his face as he told me how the trucks rolled up and stop, soldiers lowered the tailgate and as the crowd braced for death, the Americans began distributing bags of rice. That is where, he told me, they saw the US as a great nation as he said "we would have shown no such kindness to you"

You can trust, though, if the time comes, Japan will defend itself

Yea, maybe.
Reminds me, for some reason, of watching out my parents living-room window the guy across the street with his cartopper upside-down on his driveway, painting it blue. I wondered if that was so it couldn't be spotted by rescuers if he ever capsized it.
A 'stealth' plane should be black, blue or white, my guess.

Slap a bunch of sponsors decals on it?

help pay for the damned thing!

toyota already figured it out

In 30 years it'll be too damn late.

Japan still has the power to arm itself to the teeth, it is just not beneficial for them to do so unless they absolutely have to.

I expect the stealth coating has not been applied at this time. The overall shape does not appear to be very stealthy when at least compared to other stealth jets currently known about. So I expect this is a systems/tech demonstrator prototype rather then what the potential Japanese stealth jet will look like. For all their technology Japan has not produced good jets over the last 50 years

The stealth part means you can't see it on radar. ;)

So does that mean it's not real quiet?
