How is the USA going to neutralize the chinese threat esp. stealth subs and satellite shooting missiles ? How will the USA react in case of a full scale nuke war with China ? Is the USA BMD capable of destroying chinese nuclear ICMB's ? Why do some people still have the Russia fixation ? If anything, Russia now is a USA ally. Please share your opinion. Thanks.

It is called the Ohio class Submarine. It can hit China with the equivalent of over 5000 Hiroshima nuclear bombs. A dozen of these subs can lay waste to China over and over again. There is nothing to gain and everything to lose. Not a smart decision for any country.

Not sure if serious or... I think I need more coffee for this one.

so to go with your quote: which is the lesser of two evils here?

Both countries would wipe each other out... there is no victor in nuclear conflict.

I don't know you. I don't know if you're being serious. We have so little to fear from China involving a nuclear exchange I don't get the point. China doesn't need to attack us to beat us. They are 'winning' with every container ship that sails east from their shore. They would be literally killing the goose that lays the Golden Egg.

But rest assured, the USofA has more than enough missiles to kill millions of Chinese, and most don't need satnav to do so.

We don't have to destroy their ICBMs (we didn't have to with Russia) we just have to make sure China realizes they can't protect themselves from our onslaught... :peace

For the umpteenth time...there is no Chinese threat to American sovereignty.

China has never attacked anyone outside of her historical boundaries. And America is no where near that.

Plus, the Chinese do not seem as dumb as some Ameticans as instead of running around the world dropping bombs everywhere, costing tons of money/lives, pissing people off and solving nothing; China seems to be trying to conquer the world with economics. And getting richer in the process while America grows poorer by the day.

The islands China grabbed are none of America's business. Let Japan, South Korea, et al worry about it. Failing that, take it to some international court. A couple hunks of rock halfway around the world are NOTHING for Americans to get worked up about.

This whole China vs. America nonsense is little more then neo con rambling's trying to drum up fear to justify massive military budgets.

If Americans want to defeat China? Then slash both the military and welfare budgets, end the Fed, simplify taxes/regulations and make America economically strong and competitive again. Financial prosperity is the key...not spending money she does not have.
If America does not turn her economic fortunes around, China may eventually be able to simply buy her way to world domination.

The Chinese main interests as far as a world player are economic, I see them avoiding any sort of conflict with any major power at all cost. In fact, it's this desire to avoid conflict that leads me to believe China is beginning to see the advantage of reigning down hard on North Korea and pushing for regime change.

I'm not worried about China. They are a rational actor. Hell, when it comes to using military force they have more checks and balances than we do. And because they are a rational actor, MAD reigns supreme.

i used to think Russia was becoming an ally up until 3-4 years ago but not any more. in case you didnt notice whats going on in Ukraine, the west and U.S. are supporting new regime while Russia invades Crimea and other parts of Ukraine - doesnt sound like allies. Also, now i hear that Russia and China may be working together with other countries to move to something other than the US Dollar as the world reserve currency.

also because of industry and growing economy, eventually China will have superior military technology to U.S. - it may take 20 years but its just a matter of time.

china is certainly a powerful nation, however as of 2016 it's highly likely that the US could neutralize the Chinese military before they even knew what was happening. fast forward to 2026, and it might be a very different story.

This is exactly the reason why china should be nuked and neutralized NOW, when there is an advantage, instead of waiting around and let the enemy become powerful.

Really? Our government wouldn't have to lift a finger to bring down China. Do you realize the damage Walmart alone would have on China if it decided to have most all of its goods produced elsewhere?

So MEH! to China. They're slaves to a retail store.

You are advocating genocide?

ONE nuke targeted on the Seven Gorges Dam would decimate China to the point where it would take decades to recover. Not just the loss of power and irrigation, but the massive loss of human life and crops from the ensuing flood. We're talking about ONE sub, one ICBM and China is done for. Then we thrown in high altitude stealth bombers dropping smart bombs on every single military location in China. Then we also throw in the complete destruction of every satellite that China depends on (if you think that space isn't militarized and we're not WAY ahead of everyone else, then "you are truly lost"). With one nuke (I'm not sure that even our best bunker busters could bring down the 7GD), a bunch of smart munitions and a couple dozen orbital detonations and China is back to 1954.

Oh, well done! Been here what, a week or so? and already wrote the front funner for 'Most Asinine Post of the Year'.
Gonna be hard to top, but if anyone can do it, my money's on you.

well, I'm not sure 'neutralizing' china would work out well. I'm almost certain we could decapitate and dismantle their conventional forces with relative ease, as china has no currently active answer to the F-22, B-2, x-47b, or AGM-158s fired from Virginia's or Zumwalt. it's unlikely that china would have any warning of the American first strike until the explosions started. but they have a hardened nuclear triad just like we do. I'm sure they'd use it, just like we would if tomorrow all our bases got hit simultaneously by a foreign power.

and yes, I'm aware nations keep some of their hardware a secret, but that applies to the US as well as china so there's no logic in saying 'china has secret technology to instantly close a >20 year capability gap in military hardware', because by that logic there's no reason 'the US has secret technology to instantly re-open a >20 year capability gap in military hardware' is not an equally valid statement.

China stronk?!?

Serious question cause I don't know: When was the last time China participated in any conflict/war? (and I don't mean peacekeeping stuff)

Fallen.

I think we have to first decide is there a Chinese threat? this is like the yellow peril of the twentieth century. A fixation that we would be overrun by the hoards of Asia. Traditionally China doesn't have territorial aspirations beyond its borders but it does have clear ideas about where its ancient borders were and it wants to reestablish those. The mentality is a wall mentality, keep the enemy at a distance and a deep paranoia about being invaded. There are wounds here that have not been healed, may never be healed. Establishing a lot of sand islands the next typhoon will blow away is a symptom of this paranoia, it is irrational, annoying your neighbours for no good reason is irrational

Your second contention that Russia is a US ally, no, Russia is a US rival. They happen to both have forces deployed on the same battlefield this doesn't make them allies, they have just agreed not to shoot at each other and maybe, sometimes, shoot at the same people
