I got an email from a buddy of mine that saw this video of PJ equipment that was on display at a show recently. Seeing the thread about Military/Survival Knives and then this video gave me the idea to start this thread about the different types of equipment that individuals use while in the field. Most of the equipment in this video is combat oriented, but there's a ton of other "stuff" that could fill a truck if you piled it together, like the military/survival knives in the other thread.

If you want, show some picks or videos of the different "stuff" you carried into the field when deployed or on maneuvers, and tell us a little about what you used it for and if you have any strange stories about how different "stuff" would end up getting used for totally unrelated things. For those not in the military or never been in the military, I'm saying "stuff" instead ****, as in "grab your ****, we've been tasked..."

PS: the US Marines always seemed to have all the really cool "stuff" that we would always try to "reallocate" between units.

Most my gear while deployed was standard oif/oef rfi gear, which I hated. Most of our gear seemed to be designed with government contractors is mind over combat effectiveness.

My favorite field gear was the old vietnam through desert storm gear we used in basic training and ait. All of it was very practical, and effective. I really liked my od green medium ruck with a metal frame, most hated it because the metal frame was designed to jab you in the back when you slouched, but after a long road march with correct posture, I learned to love them, and still prefer them over the new large rucks with the plastic frame.
