The Hell? Of course they numb you.
Who said otherwise?
Some numbskull.
No, seriously, it was in the OP.

How true is this? I get different answers from different people. Given the age we live in I dont see why they would have to do it without drugs. I mean we have adequate medicine now. Its not like when we had barbers chopping off limbs for a cut, and had no really good disinfectant or numbing medications. Is the Military really this insane? This also seems kind of stupid since if you dont numb someone what is stopping them from biting your finger off from the pain? Why would anyone think its better to do it without drugs?
It'd also massively increase the risk of botched operations and additional injury, given how much more a patient without pain killer will tend to buck and thrash around during the procedure.I have had dental work done twice by the military, and both times either novacaine or gas or both were used for dental surgery. Infact after if it was major surgery opiates were prescribed. I mean come on now, trying to do such work without numbing them would easily lead to death from pain shock, given the amount of nerves in the human jaws.

What dentist? The Navy just takes 3 guys to hold you down, and the biggest fattest CPO (who normally plays King Neptune in his off hours) then smashes you in the jaw and knocks out the bad tooth.
Sorry, i have no idea where you are getting all of these answers. Why not just make a single thread, then post all of your questions there? Trust me, there are a lot of honest veterans here that can answer them for you in a single thread.
And yes, they use pain killers, like any other dentist.
