i used to have a hot female officer walk by my post multiple times a day while i was on guard duty.

one day she past and i didnt salute, she asked why and i said you got saluted and didnt even know it

luckily she was pretty cool about it otherwise i could have been in some trouble.

Re: for those active or former active military

I never personally pulled any but I have heard of a few good ones being pulled related to my job.

First, as many know or may have guessed from my screenname, I worked with nuclear power for the Navy. We had to find get our dosimeters read every now and then and would stand in line in the P-ways to do this. Every so often, someone from another department would ask what we standing in line for. It was not uncommon for someone to tell them we were waiting for something either good, like free candy or snacks or liberty chits, or something important, like gas masks or extra protective equipment. It was kind of funny how many times people would believe them and wait right there with us for something "special".

Another one was we would usually touch our dosimeters, to make sure we were really wearing them, before going into the space to work. Again, the curious people came out. They would ask why we did it. So some would tell them that we were activating our radiation shields. Of course it was an invisible shield. Another one where too many people believed it.

On that same line, we had to move barrels in and out of the spaces every now and then that took a lot of us. When asked what they were, we were known to tell people that they were barrels of food for one type of various rodents who were the true energy behind the nuclear reactor.

I had a first class tell me about a couple of good ones. He said him and a couple of guys with him convinced basically a whole squadron that they all needed to put in request chits for their "radiation shields" because they "may need them". Apparently this caused a lot of chits to go up to the CO urgently requesting radiation shields for airdales. The department was asked to please stop telling the airdales they all needed radiation shields. The other one was when they took a bucket of glow-in-the-dark green painted ball bearings up to an airdale berthing at night, ensured the lights were all off, threw the bearings across the deck, and yelled "Neutron spill!!!". That one I guess caused a panic. Didn't find out what happened though. I don't think anyone got caught, but its likely that the chain of command strongly suspected it was my 1st's department, just not who specifically did it.

When I was stationed at Pendleton, our platoon Sgt. liked to party rather heartily. Soooo… a few of us took his bunk (with him in it) out after he came staggering in after a weekend of fun and set it on the giant dumpster about fifty feet from where the bugler blew revile. I wish I had a picture of the WTF look on his face when he woke up.
