Yeah, they really let him have it. Only 7 republicans voted in favor of a reprimand. It was called "very mild" and did not keep him from speaking. Here's what John Boehner said -

Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio called the House resolution a witch hunt. "We all know Joe Wilson," Boehner said. "He is a decent man. To put him through this on the House of the floor is unacceptable and is a partisan stunt." Boehner also said that disciplining a member of Congress for poor behavior in the House set a troubling precedent. "My goodness, we could be doing this every day of the week," Boehner said.
    The double standard is ridiculous.

So wait... you were expecting or wanting it to be a non-partisan reprimand? That doesn't happen with Democrats or Republicans, or if it does, it's a vast minority for an event such as this. I'd venture to guess most Republicans agreed with Joe.

Perhaps if it were a bit more serious, the ethics panel would have convened - but it was not. What is ridiculous is 13 ethics violations by Charlie Rangel, and HE gets a reprimand (and not a censure or expulsion), and the man is still in Congress. Double standard indeed.

They are Republicans , maybe they don't want people talking about things they don't know about. lol
